A friend of mine once told me this story about a guy who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The guy had been a pretty bad person but decided to make the most of the time he had left and went to I think it was like a monastary in tibet or something, I'm not sure. Anyway he talked to a monk who told him that he got rid of his cancer by eating nothing but rotten foods. All the food he ate was rotten and he did this for two months and the cancer went away. According to the story the guy did the same and was cured of cancer himself. Apparently it worked because all the bacteria basically poisoned the cancer cells or something. I don't know, I can't remember all the details. I also remember a story about some sort of liquid that could be dripped into the blood stream and purge the body of cancer. Can't remember what it was though. Anyway I was just wondering what you thought of this. Have you heard of any stories similar to this? If so please summarize them. Thanks.

Mumbo jumbo. Crap. Lies.

Glad to see you have the common sense to question this.

Always be wary of anyone claiming a miraculous cure, whether for themselves or someone they know or as an anecdote such as this one. You ask for similar stories, but any such stories, even when not as obviously absurd as this one, are worthless - you have no way of knowing if the person telling the story or the subject of the story ever had cancer in the first place.

The pity of these stories, as with all bogus cancer 'cures', is that people with cancer, especially when newly diagnosed or when all conventional treatments are exhausted, can be so desperate that they will try anything. And there is always someone ready to take their money. You can bet your life that if this particular story is doing the rounds, some charlatan will come up with an expensive 'rotten food bacteria' pill or powder sooner or later.

I was desperate enough after surgery and diagnosis to explore alternative (ie unproven) 'remedies', even though I had always been sceptical of such things. In the end I went for tested and proven treatments which though far from perfect are known to save some lives and extend many, unlike any of the untested, unproven and unscientific 'altrenatives' I had researched.

Please, if anyone does reply with similar stories, a) don't believe them and b) don't pass them on

Not possible. Terminal cancer can only be treated when it's early. So perhaps your friend found out when the cancer took 12% of his energy. Cancer is still a deadly disease.

If there is any truth to this story you probably didn't get 95% of the story told to you. At this point I would have to say mumbo jumbo.

All mumbo jumbo as are any 'cancer cures' which can not provide documented scientific evidence to support their claims.

Cancer cures or mumbo jumbo? Definitely mumbo jumbo.
If something's too good to be true...

If that were so, don't you think everyone who had cancer would be doing it? No, this is not true.

I heard if you get bit by a radio active spider that it can give you spider powers.
