You can beat this! it will be hard, but it can be done.

here is some steps you may find useful to be able to stop

decide you want to stop, making sure you are the main reason and not anyone else

Make a list of people that you can call if you need them either friends family or a help line

Try and be positive

Finding the triggers (the things that make you want to self harm)

Try and reduce the stress in your life that will help to reduce the wanting to self harm

If you think that you need some professional help then you can always go and see your GP as s/he will be able to offer you help and advice

Self harming is a hard thing to get through but it can be done. do not beat yourself up if you do relapse just try and think about how long you haven't self harmed for and try and be positive and start over.

Heres some things you could try to do that I used to help me stop self harming. Some sound silly but give them a couple of goes to see if they can help you.

Talking about how you feel either friend, family or help line

Draw or write about how you feel

Scribble in red on a bit of paper

Cut into a apple or something similar

Put an elastic band or hair tie around your wrist and pull it when you feel the need to self harm

Go for a walk to clear your head or another sort of exercise

Scream into a pillow or punch and kick it

People usually self harm for a few reasons. One being when they are angry and to get some sort of relief. And another reason being that they feel like they have some sort of control over something in their life. You say you tried counseling but ho wlong? You should try to keep with it for awhile. it does not happen overnight. Also, you need to find acounselor that suits you. Not everybody is going to be the right one for you to talk to. Over the course of my teenage years, I must have seen atleast 25 counselors. Only 3 stick out in my mind that actually helped me; that really tried to get to the underlying cause of what was wrong.
Also, you have to deal with whatever incident that happened to you. Suppressing it will not help. It will make it worse in the long run. Self-harm may give you a temporary sens eof relief but it is hurting you more in the end. You are hurting yourself more emotionally and physically.....What makes you happy? It made me feel better about myself when I would do something to help others. .....Self harming becames a negative pattern .....I'm not sure where you live, but in my state we have 211 infoline that if you call they give you resources for whatever help you may need. This may sound silly but I listen to Mariah Carey's "I will make it thru the rain" when I am down. It motivates me. lol. :) When I was younger and going thru a hard time , this girl I went to school with sang me a song called It won't rain all the time, the skies won't fall forever.................I don't know who sings it but it always stood with me , all these years....I wish I could sing it to you:)
