this question made me yawn. not because it is dumb, clearly because it has the disease attached.

It is a case of monkey see, monkey do - when an action occurs among people or animals, it triggers thinking about the activity and triggers like behavior - a person yawning or stretching makes others think of the condition and notice they need to do the same thing, perhaps a bit earlier than they would have on their own.

it's not a disease, it's a primitive way of communication. it's instinct to yawn after other people, because thousands of years ago it was used for something else.

It is a learned condition. Just refuse to yawn when you see someone yawning.

Maybe its diabetes because yawning (or becoming sleepy) is one of the symptoms of diabetes.
