... making people dislike Christianity even more?
And why don't they understand that their preaching only means something to those who are already Christians?

Christ follower, we don't care what you're TRYING to do. What you ARE doing is annoying people.

Edge, oh really would it now? You mean the forced violent "convert or die in terrible ways, and watch the horrible mutilation of the people and things you love the most" didn't have anything to do with it? Silly me. I thought actually reading history would do me good.
Apparently it would do you alot more good than it would me.
This is the first time in 2000 years that nonChristians are strong enough, and have the ability, to fight back against you Christians without being slaughtered en masse for doing so or treated like lepers.
Go read history.

no John, you follow what a bunch of sheepherders wrote in a 2000 year old book, years after your supposed Jesus died, who thought the earth was flat.
Not exactly glowing support of anything written in the bible, now is it?
You're not following the word of your god, you're following the word of barbarians.

buttercup, I never said to not spread the word. If you think people should know, then by all means tell them, WHEN THEY ASK DIRECTLY WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS.

pink, if I had a child and he did drugs, I'd counsel him to do otherwise and let him make his own choices and love him no matter what he did. Thats what a parent should do. What I would not do is torture him for eternity like your so called loving god.
And this is not drugs. This is religion. This is theology. So why are you not understanding and are incapable of answering the actual questions posed?

spoken, what was the point in that? You know I don't believe in hell, yet you brought it up anyway? Should I start talking about how the mermaids will take you to their undersea city if you please them enough? Oh wait... you think mermaids don't exist, don't you?
Think.

grnlow, did he really? Or did a bunch of long dead people who wrote the bible years after Jesus death (if he even existed) and thought the earth was flat do that?
Hmmm... I wonder....

Btw, I come here because occasionally there are actually good POLITE questions asked that are actually educational. Unfortunately, most of the questions are Christians talking down to everyone else and it gets very wearing sometimes.

Thank you Morgana. I do try. As you can see, I don't think some of them actually read the whole thing. You would be an example of why I don't have problems with Non-Christians (other than the occasional Muslim). I just wish more people understood.

Selfishness. If it"s not preaching it"s trying to force prayer and such like.
Inconsiderate if you ask me.

Because "THEY ARE RIGHT". They honestly believe that they are helping people by spreading the word and being pushy is the only way people will pay attention. They also are pushy because they don't like answering questions about their faith. So if you ask a question, they tend to be a little more forceful and insulting. Since they "know" they are right, they think "why are you asking questions?". They don't want to listen to other points of view or answer questions because they really don't know that much about their own religion. Most of these pushy types have never even read the bible or done their history homework other than what was taught in school, so it's best to just ignore them and live life how you want. They FEED off of the attention.

Great question. In studying the life of Jesus, we see that the way He affected people's lives was through His love. People flocked to Him in masses, and as long as I have been reading the Bible and hearing stories of the Bible, although I'm no expert, I can't think of an example where Jesus had to recruit to a crowd to speak to, because they were the ones seeking after Him.
If Christians were perfect people, Christians wouldn't be trying to reach those who aren't by preaching or pushiness. If Christians were perfect, other people would be able to see Christ in them. However, no Christian is perfect, so the best of intentions do get messed up, either out of that person's arrogance and insincerity, or because they truly care, and they really don't mean to be pushy, it is just happening by accident.
I think if you can look past how silly some Christians can be, and how many mistakes they make, if you can get past that, and if you can get to know Jesus, you will find Him quite worthwhile despite all the idiots that He knows and loves!

Why dont atheists seem to realize that they are a small small small minority of the population in the US and that they dont get to dictate to the rest of us how we should act? Dont give me seperation of church and state either, it doesnt exist to wipe out God from society. Founding fathers prayed before every single meeting when drafting the Constitution.
Here is a perfect example of atheists pushing themselves on society based solely on intolerance. In Utah an atheist group is suing a county for using crosses to honor a crash site of 2 police officers. They are claiming that the crosses are christian symbols and have no business being used by a gvt group. Well Utah, as you might know, is primarily mormon. The officers were mormon. Most of the officials that wanted the crosses were mormon. Mormons dont use the cross as a religious symbol. You will never ever find a single cross on any mormon building or official documents or monuments. They dont believe that Jesus' death should be the focus of his life. So in this case the cross is literally a historical symbol to show that an officer lost his life at this site becasue the cross historically has been used at graves. There is no way a case can be made that these mormon officials are using it to depict christianity because they dont worship using a cross. Yet the atheists reject it completely as a historical symbol and dont want anything remotely even related to religion anywhere ever. It is a perfect example of how atheists dont get that they dont have a right to push their agendas on everyone else in such a brazen and outright ridiculous way.

Well we Christians make mistakes as we're human. My best advice is be pleasant, then if you are interested in Christianity find a kindred soul who is gentle. Prior to becoming a Christian myself, a real Christian I quite honestly thought most of them were raving lunatics and "holy rollers". I was fortunate to meet a lady I worked with and told her what I just said here. she quietly said "I'm a Christian and sometimes people do go over the top". I said to her "well I wouldn't mind being like you". It took me another 8 years and a major crisis in my life to "get it". But I always remember her in her gentle leading. Also when I became a Christian I wanted everyone to feel like I did, my friends etc. When friends asked "you're so different" I would say "it's the Lord in my life". They would say "whatever works for you". I didn't say anything as I figured by example would be the best, rather than arguing with them. Maybe like that lady now 15 years ago, someone will remember that in their walk.

There is a command - from Jesus himself. Christians are to take and spread the "Gospel" / Good News message of Jesus Christ to people in every nation on earth.
The message, we were told in the Bible's New Testament, 2000 years ago, many will think it to be "foolishess" that it is "offensive".
Over the centuries people have been creative in their methods of sharing "the Gospel" and you will find all sorts or approaches.

because not all christians understand what Jesus meant when He said to tell all nations about Him...some christians think they are put on earth to convert every person...all christians should be doing is spreading the gospel and letting the hearers choose for themselves which path they want to take...nobody can save another person...it has to be done by each individual...and being pushy only pushes the other direction than what is wanted...not all christians are true believers...

We are only talking about extremists. Thats what they do. I live in the bible belt and trust me we have our fair share snd they get exposure for preaching because people will talk about it either in a negative or positive light.
Others are just people who are very passionate about their cause who feel that they have the god-given responsibility to spread the good word.
Ultimately its up to you to hear them out or not, our freedom to do so or not. Its just like petitioning for any other cause you believe in be it pro-enviroment or anti-evolution, or both.

You know how you don't like people forcing their beliefs on you?
I don't like people forcing their disbeliefs on me :p
But that said, I am annoyed equally by both over-aggressive Anti-Theists, as well as the Christians that give them ammo.
If their heart is truly in the right place, they will still be friendly no matter what your beliefs.
You know, even Jesus hung out with drunkards and whores, even if he was like "you know... my dad said i cant invite you over." But that didn't change his lifestyle, and he never forced it on anyone, although he did get pretty miffed at the Pharisees.

3 reasons.
1. Jesus ordered us to do so.
2. There are honest hearted people who want to follow true worship but don't know how.
3. If you or anyone refuses, fine. You have been told of the choice and refused. Now you can't claim ignorance. Stupidity maybe, but ignorance, no.

Christians, ideally, follow the works of Jesus Christ. He also fell victim to the dislikes you are stating. It is what Christianity is all about. Here for more than a visit, but for only a short time. And here to spread the word. You may change your thoughts when you have experienced great strife in your life or become older. God Bless.
