That depends on what you regard as a new recipe and what restrictions your guests have. For instance if your guests are vegetarians, you could make a vegetable lasagna.
If they are not, you could bread boneless, skinless chicken breasts (salt and pepper the breasts, dip in flour shaking off excess, dip in beaten eggs making sure to cover the flour, then dip in bread crumbs) and saute them in a mixture of olive and butter for about 5 minutes per side or until juices run clear and there's no pink inside. Then top each breast with spinach (if fresh, remove large stems, chop & wash then saute it in butter and add some salt and pepper; if frozen, thaw, squeeze moisture out and saute and season) and then add a slice of provolone cheese or mozzarella to the top. Pop that in the oven until the cheese is melted. This could be served with fettucine alfredo (or your choice of pasta with alfredo sauce or even buttered noodles), a salad and a loaf of bread.
An alternative to the spinach chicken would be to make breaded chicken parmesan (the same as above, but merely adding the cheese to the top and melting, then topping with sauce). Serve that with any type of pasta and the remaining sauce.
There are many other things that could be served depending on your taste and your guests' tastes. You could serve crab cakes with a vegetable medley. You could have a grilled, fresh fish or grilled & marinated chicken breasts with vegetables. You could serve a pot roast or roast beef with vegetables. You could roast a chicken and serve that with vegetables.
Whatever you decide upon, I wish you success.

If it were my party...I would consider making the meat more simple... IF you are thinking about doing Shishkabobs...then do them with chicken and shrimp and add the potatoes to them. We always like to marinate the items in italian dressing...put chicken, onions, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and potatoes on the kabob and grill them. (the potatoes will need to be slightly cooked prior to grilling or they will take forever) Then all you are left with is the corn and the salad to prepare. I think the fruit and cheese trays will be great also... Just a thought

Start with a nice crisp salad with dried berries, move into a tasty, yet regular??, chicken dish. Perhaps a stuffed chicken breast with walnuts and parsley and cheese? Then move onto a simple yet tasty treat like creme brulee. Pair this with a few different drinks and you are gold.
Match the drinks with the salad dressing, and the chicken sauce.

That is correct , you cannot be giving dishes that do not seem to be quite right. So if I was you I would nip out to the Chippie and get some old fashioned Fish & Chips..that should make their day... personally I hate them but you never can tell with other people...!!
