Yes you can. If you are making pintos, heres what I do. Add one can of mexican stewed tomatoes. Fry up some bacon for seasoning, add to beans. Salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin......add to beans. If you like brown some hamburger with onion and drain fat, add to beans. Or if you prefer add some kobesa sausage to the beans. You can add cilantro when the beans are almost done.
I usually start them in a crock pot in the am , so when we get home in the evening they are ready

Yes you can cook them now.Just depends on the person, you can soak them all night or a few hours or you dont have to soak them at all.Just as long as you cook them for about 2 hours or until soft.If you use a crock pot you should put them on the night before because they take alot longer.Get to cooking those beans and dont forget the cornbread.lol

dry beans do not have to be soaked at all. if you choose to soak, about 4 hours or overnight is best. To cook good dry beans, sort carefully to remove any bad beans or soil ect. Wash,Wash,Wash. them, beans are very dirty. then. place the beans in a pan to cook, keep in mind that beans expand alot,so plan your cooking pan large enough. cover wih water ,twice the amount of beans, add whatever meat you are going to use for seasoning,(pieces of bacon is best)watch carefully for the bean s to get low on water as they cook. It is IMPoRTANT that when you add water, it must be hot water, otherwise the beans burst. it takes several hours to cook dry beans. do not add salt until the beans ar almost done( to prevent sticking) these are plain beans, the kind we eat in west virginia. we do not like the taste of beans cooked in a crock pot.

well yes and no. what kind of dried bean it is makes no difference. most ppl let there beans soak overnite change water;rinse and go on with the recipe their making. now the quick version is to boil them for about an hour and let simmer for another 1-2 depending on type of bean and amount. then u change water and make what ever ur planning
