all depends on who you ask(i personally like spaniels)
but others may just like any well behaved dog or others may like small dogs and others may like really big dogs
so i would have to say there is no individual best breed but indiviudual best dogs
but if you are thinking of getting a dog keep the following info in mind
You need to ask yourself, foremost, if you have the time, money, patience, and space for a dog. Keep in mind that dogs require regular vet care, daily excercise, a crate, lots of toys, good food and lots of attention. They also need TRAINING. All of that requires time and money. Are you prepared to dive into that and be a responsible owner for the rest of the dogs' life (which can be 15+ years!)? If it sounds too overwhelming, rethink your plans and consider a different animal.
That said...Write down what kind of dog you want. Do you want a dog with long hair? Do you want a dog that doesn't shed a whole lot? Do you want a lazy dog or one that has tons of energy? Do you want a big dog or a small dog? Do you want a dog that's likely to be protective of you and your home, or do you want a happy-go-lucky dog that loves everyone?
Once you've decided on the traits you want, go to www.akc.org and see what breed matches your 'wants'. THEN go to www.petfinder.com and see if there are any for adoption in your area. Adult dogs are GREAT to start out with because you already know what their habits and such are. You can get a purebred dog much cheaper than buying a puppy, and you don't have to go through the puppy stage---and you're saving that adult dogs' life. What's better than that? You can also look into mixes of the breeds you want...be careful with mixes and know what they're mixed with because they can turn out like EITHER breed they're mixed with. If it's a mix of two breeds you want, then it should be the perfect match for you!
If you can't find what you want at PetFinder, seek out a RESPONSIBLE and REPUTABLE breeder via akc.org. Do NOT buy from a Pet store or people who advertise in the newspaper, Craigslist, and so on. Reputable breeders do not generally advertise their puppies and so you'll need to contact them about availablility. They may have a waiting list but it is worth it---you'll save tons of money getting a well-bred dog from a reputable breeder than buying a cheaper one from someone who has registered purebreds, but didn't breed to better the breed, OR do the necessary medical testing to ensure their puppies are structurally sound and free of genetic diseases/deformities.

How can this question be answered?
Every dog is the best kind of dog.
I have over my 65 years had many dogs, they were all the best. They ranged from many mixed mutts to a lot of purebreds. You give them a lot of love. They give the love back.
If you are a real dog person you will clean up after them, dumping the garbage and let them you are not happy. You will figure it was your fault that the remote got chewed up because you did not put in a safe place and let them know you are not happy. They get the idea. No more garbage problems or chewed remotes.
What ever kind of dog you have be tolerant, they are all just pups forever.

I believe the best kind of dog to have as a pet or even to breed would have to be a Beagle. They are extremely easy to train as a inside dog and also can be a guard dog as well. Also another good thing about a beagle are they are awesome to have to help you hunt birds, ducks, and a few big game animals.

I like big dogs, cuz they are awesome when you are sad, happy, or any other feeling... They are always there to comfort you, especially great pyrenees dogs. I have one and he is amazing! I also have 2 dobermen pinschers, and they are so sweet and nice to anyone, but a lot of small dog owners think they are vicious or something, but they truly are some of the smartest, sweetest, and most wonderful guard dogs out there!
hope this helps... let me know what you picked as the best dog!

Labs are good dogs
Boxer are good dogs
I have a Shih Tzu, she is a odd dog.
There are not best kind of dogs. Dogs should go good with the people who own them. Dogs are as different as people
The best kind of dogs, is the dog that fit you the best

There really is no "best" breed of dog. They all are just as loveable and unique.
If you are planning on getting a dog, I suggest you adopt, and save a life. Dogs are way over-populated, seeing as not every human wants to own one. By adopting a dog, of any breed or mix, you are helping the fight against cruel animal treatment.

Well, the most popular dogs go in the following order:
1. Labrador Retriever
2. Golden Retriever
3. German Shepherd
4. Beagle
5. etc.
ect.
ect.
But I'd say that the Golden Retrievers can be at times very dumb, so I'd go with German Shepherd, or Lab.

Golden Retriever. They are the most affectionate, loyal, and adapting dog I've ever had. I recomend them for any type of person. They usually tend to adapt to your personality rather quickly. Other dogs take a while if at all.

When it comes to families and children a Labrador is the best by far. Second is a Golden Retriever.
