I was playing my favorite video game. It's a combat game. Basically all we do is go around killing each other for 30 minutes. Anyways, I was using the screen name "FoxholeAtheist." The person hosting the server told me I had to change my name.

"What's wrong with my name?" I asked. "Is being an atheist vulgar?"

"Yes." Was his answer. And I promptly got kicked out of the game.

Wow. What a control freak. He's got some major issues if that offends him.

If it's a private server, though, I'm afraid he was within his rights to kick you out for whatever reason, no matter how discriminatory or unfair. It still doesn't make it right, though. Sometimes I wish the freedom of speech extended to the private sector so that people like this could get their just desserts. But when he chases everyone else away, he'll just have to play his game alone. The best revenge is that which is inflicted by a deserving person on himself.

i would say that's discrimination. if there are any small print guidelines that forbid this (discrimination) in the game then you could probably do your best to complain about it but i doubt it would get you anywhere. at least you can appreciate the irony that you got kicked off by some religious dude that likes to virtually kill people. and just as a sidenote here, there are better things to do with your time then play online video games like reading a richard dawkins book.

(edit) and the answerer that told you not to advertise your beliefs is full of crap. if it's ok for jews to wear stars of david and christians to wear crosses and buddhists to walk around with prayer beads in hand then you have the full right to "advertise" your beliefs. the person that told you not to advertise is probably the same type of person that kicked you off the game.

You imposed your self where you weren't wanted. The same thing would have happened in a bar, they don't care for arrogant children either.
I'm personally offended that a punk like you can even say foxhole. Like you really know anything about Atheism or foxholes.
Live a little while and you will learn.

If he is the Host of the game and you want to play I suggest you play by his rules. And in Life Jesus Christ is the Host so I suggest you pay by His Rules. If you are the one that hosts then you can set the rules if you are not in charge sit back and follow the rules of those in authority or leave the game...I guess the concept is so simple you overlooked it.

I think it's petty and narrow-minded and unfortunately there is always going to be people like that. Perhaps you should be the server and let others join a game you've created then if they have a problem they can just leave the game.

Well, think about it: the symbol of Christianity is a dying, suffering man nailed to a post. Killing is perfectly acceptable to Judaeo-Christianity (which INCLUDES Islam, BTW) and even commendable, despite any number of hypocritical injunctions such as "Thou shalt not kill" and 'Love one another" etc etc. The only thing that is UNacceptable to such people is NOT slavishly buying into their rubbish, as you found out in the clearest way possible!
