1-800-799-7233 (1-800-799-SAFE) is the National Domestic Violence Hotline....have the woman call them. She must be the one to ask; no one can rescue an abused woman without her help. If she's unable to call, then get her to a hospital emergency room and ask them to call. An abused mother is raising an abused child who will in turn grow up to expect abuse to be normal. I hope she calls and accepts their advice and help.

There are shelters for abused women in almost all states the local police dept or human resource's in the phone book will have #s of places she can get help

There should be shelters in almost every community. I'd call the local hospital or police station and ask them if they could give you the information about the closest shelter.
