Zia in Italian. Spanish is similar (tía). They both come from a Greek word "thea" which was borrowed into the Vulgar Latin of Italy and Spain.

The French word for 'aunt' (tante) comes from Latin "amita' meaning "father's sister" or "a paternal aunt." This was probably the original word in Italian too.
