How long or how much income do I need to get earned income credit on my tax return?

In theory you would get $2 EIC on $1 of earned income made for 10mins work. However EIC reaches it's peak at around $11,300 to $13,500 annual earned income for those with a couple of kids depending on your marital status.

Just about any amount of income is enough to qualify you for EIC, but if you only make a few dollars, it would be very small, just a dollar or two. If you don't have any children you have to be at least age 25.

The most you can make depends on whether you are single or married filing a joint return, and whether you have two or more children, one child, or no children.
