Need a safe no ricochet-free backstop for indoor shooting?
Hang a quilted blanket doubled in thickness behind your target. Additionally, a good idea for a target backstop is a cardboard box stuffed with old newspapers . Just tape your target to the box and set it in front of the blanket.
Instant indoor range..
Don't use a new blanket for this.

A heavy blanket, pillow, cardboard box full of dirt or sand, plastic bag full of grass or leaves, blocks of Styrofoam like used in archery targets, bags full of old clothes or waded up news papers.

Any hared surface like steel, rocks, or most woods will cause a pellet that slow to bounce back.

We used to take a cardboard box and stuff it full old blue jeans, t shirts, just any kind of worn out clothing, and tape our paper targets to the side, you may need to rearrainge the clothinginside the box from time to time, especially if you are a good shot and can drill the same hole over and over and over etc.
