What is the best way to ace an interview?

I have an interview on Monday, and I know I'm qualified, but I stumble over words when I get nervous. I need some tips on what to say to sound like I'm not nervous. This is my dream job!

First of all, good luck! : ) The following notes won't guarantee getting hired, but will help with ANY job interview.

The first best things to do are simple: be freshly bathed, use anti-persp/deodorant, brush teeth, brush hair, dressed neatly in clean, ironed clothes - preferably business dress; A CONSERVATIVE dress, suit or pantsuit - NO blue jeans, mini skirts, t-shirts, sexy outfits, underwear that shows, etc. MAJOR turn-off for prospective employers!

Sparingly use a VERY light scent if you wear one - nothing strong like musk. Many people are allergic to or offended by heavy scents. Apply make-up with a light hand - colors that are understated, rather than bold look nice.

The above may sound like "Well, DUH, doesn't everyone know that????" but you'd be surprised at how many people go to an interview dressed like they're going to "dress-down day" at the public high-school.

DURING THE INTERVIEW: Bring a copy of your resume and cover letter in a file folder and present it IF ASKED FOR! When you are called into the room - take a deep breath!!!! and relax! Walk in confidently, chin up, with a small smile - not a huge fake smile pasted on your face. Shake hands if one is presented, maintain frequent eye contact with the interviewer(s). When asked a question, let the person finish the question before answering. If it's something that needs thought (i.e., give me three pronouns that describe yourself); again, the small smile, a slight intake of breath, and THINK before you answer!! A slight hesitation with some thoughtful responses, is better than an immediate and stupid answer! (Dedicated, business-like, eager - rather than: willful, sexy, talkative). Don't offer a lot of information, let the interviewer ask for it - too much information offered can kill a prospect. Shake hands and say "Thank you for your consideration!" at the end. It's also nice to mail a Thank You note to the interviewer within a day of the interview.

BREATH during the interview and remember that the interviewer is a person, too!!
