Aha! That's a good question! I think it's because they might think they may have overlooked something. Like there might be something that was hiding behind the gallon of milk that was n't there there the first time they looked. Or there might be a tasty snack in the crisper drawer that the refrigerator elves put there after you shut the door an the light went out.
Oh you have heard about the refrigerator elves haven't you? The little people who appear in your refrigerator after the door shuts! They rearrange things! They have very big infrared eyes to be able to see and the reason why you never ever get to see a refrigerator elf is because they are just like cockroaches----when the light goes on-- they scatter!
Usually when your refrigerator starts making funny noises in the middle of the night, it's usually the fault of the refrigerator elves, sometimes they will fall over a block of cheese or slip on the butter and fall down into the motor to their death.
Have you ever thought you smelled something rotten in your refrigerator and keep on sniffing and investigating to find out what fuzzy thing might have died there? It's usually not that rotten fruit or plateful of last months leftover meatloaf; it a decaying refrigerator elf stuck in the motor

Many bored people turn to food for emotional support. The constant return may also signify a secret craving for somthing of which they are unaware. i.e. sugar, carbohydrates, etc.. or at the extreme - attention not being paid to them.
It has been said that the American, obese women use thier weitght to avoid intimate contact with their partner...being obese may be their way of saying "No" without having to use the words.

Shipments of Schwan's Fine Frozen Foods arrive several times each month and I'm frequently surprised to see what has been laid in. The ice cream selection is to die for but their made from scratch biscuts are but a slice of heaven once buttered. All I have to do is throw money around. Oh, materialize again soon, please.

haha because that's where all the goodies are located. After the main door that's the next door to reach in the house .
I always have that here.. and I am the one who has to fill it with nice goodies, such as various kinds of cheese on which to snack, banana cup cakes, high fibre bread, bread rolls and fruits, yougurt drinks etc. etc..You have to fill it the right way so no one spoils their main meal of the day.

To all of you lovely people out there who say they keep returning to the fridge because you are BORED (I hate that word), why don't you get into the kithchen and MAKE that stew or cottage pie, then the next time you return to the fridge there'l be something nice waiting for you!!! ---Or is that too easy for you?...

It's about searching for inspiration. You know there's only a mouldy piece of cheese and a half empty jar of piccalilli there...but imagine what you could do with that and those ropey old buns in the bread bin or that tin of beans in the cupboard.

Maybe it is the fact we think we missed something really good in there. If we check it enough the new food item we are hoping for will just pop out and we will see it. Or maybe it is senility.

I think that is just you...... *s*
I have just given the question a little more thought,. our fridge is really full (there are only two of us) and I go to find something I know is there and I can't find it and I go again and see it glaring at me, when I am not looking for it, so, your hope is a good one, you will find something you don't expect (that is, if your fridge is full enough)
