The whole answer lye's in taking better care of yourself internally and externally. Eat a healthier diet, drink plenty of fluids (lots of water), and use either chap stick, or lip balm or carmex on your lips during the day. For the girls use a pre-lipstick moisturizer. NARS and Estee Lauder both make great ones. At night I use plain old Vaseline. It tastes awful and keeps me from licking my lips at night.

I used to have dry everything - skin, flakey face, chapped lips, dandruff, very dry cracked hands etc... I was a wreck even with using creams and stuff.
Then I stumbled into the habit of eating the recommended 9 fruits and vegtables a day. I'm all cleared up now and I assume it is related to my better diet just because it seems to make sense. Drinking the recommended amount of water might help too, although this was not something I focused on.
Be patient and you will notice long term results in the way you look and feel.

Well you can't remove chapped lips permanently. If you lips get chapped often go to the grocery store and look for medicated chapstick. That will get rid of the nasty dead skin looking chapped lips. Once your lips look nice keep them that way by using regular chapstick. I really like carmex and would definitly reccomend it.

You can try taking vitamin E. It might help. But there is no way to avoid chapped lips in the cold and wind without some type of lip balm or protector.

Gently brush your lips with a toothbrush. That eliminates the dead skin on your lips, and make it smooth. At night, put a medicated lip balm (I suggest Blistex Herbal Answer) for overnight moisture. I always do that, and my lips never get chapped. Also, always put on lip gloss or a balm whether you're out or inside the house, ok?

i know how you feel, i had the worst case of chapped lips i have ever seen and i had two cold sores that wouldn't go away, i had them both for 2 years!!
its easy to get rid of it|!, just change your diet!, cut out the crap and start eating healthily (im presuming you dont eat healthily now!) more fresh (preferably organic and raw if possible ) fruit and veg!!
on top of that you can take supplements like vitamin A, E and a thing called lysine (an ammino acid)

I don't know about permanently, but if you have them go without chap stick. its makes you want to bite your lips more. Just hit your hand every time you mess with them. Works for me..., Most of the time.

Ok, first of all throw away the Chapstick or anything you are smearing on your lips all the time. Before you go to bed, pat your lips dry. Do not rub them. Then apply a thin layer of white Crisco. Yes, white Crisco. It will seal in the natural moisture and help them heal. Do this every night until they are completely healed. Then you will only need to apply Crisco once a week. It works.
