I asked five atheists I know if they knew the capital of Bulgaria. None of them did.

I then asked five Christians I know if they knew the capital of Bulgaria. Every single one of them replied, "Sofia," which is correct.

Is this a sign atheists are more ignorant than Christians?

Call me stupid, but I don't think this is a good litmus test to gauge intelligence.

Well I'm an atheist and I know that the capital of Bulgaria is Sofia. I don't think knowing the capital of a foreign country has anything to do with your religion or lack thereof. And how did you take this poll exactly? Do you really think that the 5 atheists and the 5 christians are an accurate representation of the entire atheist or christian community?

Oh your god, are you serious? I'm sure that most atheist, on a whole, have a better grasp of scientifically proven evolution...

I'd rather be less intelligent than more ignorant...

Ignorance is scoffing in the face or science. Leave it to a christian to base conclusions of an experiment conducted with 10 people...I'm sure the five christians you asked were walking with you from a geography lesson on Bulgaria to a seminary lesson on how to look down on other beliefs, huh?

I am an atheist and i always knew the capital of Bulgaria,i have almost all of Europe map and european countries capitals in my memory...i love geography.
If a person doesn't know the capital of Bulgaria, probably doesn't like to study geography too...you forgot about it.

Is this a sign that you lied in your question?I think it is...

You obviously didn't ask American Christians, because some wouldn't even know that a country called Bulgaria exists, let alone know its capital. Probably many American atheists don't know too much about other countries either. That is an American trait. but it doesn't excuse American Christians for having so much ignorance when it comes to their own religious superstitions and distortions throughout their so-called Holy Book.

I've never been to Bulgaria. Not saying I wouldn't want to go but I just have better things to do that store up alot of useless knowledge of capitals of country's I have never been too. I commend your ability to show your ignorance at such a great way of theorizing the intelligence of your fellow man by our lack knowledge of geography.

What do you intend to gain from this question. How stupid do you feel asking this?

Good day....what a waste of air !!

PS don't want the 10 points. Hell you came have the 2 back.......

Most Americans don't even know where Bulgaria is (though I know it's in Eastern Europe), let alone the capital. Plus, if someone wanted to compare the ignorance level, they would need more than just one fact.

LMAO...this question is a joke....

I could just as easily say..."I asked 100 atheists to name all 50 states in alphabetical order....all 100 did it in under 30 seconds. I also asked 100 Christians to do the same....2 of them were successful. Is this a sign christians are more ignorant than atheists"?

Depends on which way you wanna spin your prejudices.

I'm an atheist and I knew it. You shut up, you say nonsense. Who is ignorant?? You are. Open some historical and philosophical books, read them with an open mind and then tell me if there is God or not. Oh, and please, travel!! America doesn't do you good... Can you answer this: where is Bulgaria? Who gave Bulgaria its religion and what is that religion? Why?AFTERALL, WHAT HAS GEOGRAPHY TO DO WITH IGNORANCE IN RELIGIOUS ISSUES????

Because 5 of them failed a geography question? Um, no. If you used a spelling contest instead, you might have concluded that it's the Christians who are "more ignorant", judging from how many posts here get addressed to "athiest".

You have, however, shown your own ignorance of what makes for a sound, controlled experiment.

No. Why Bulgaria? I am Christian and I had to look it up. Don't care anything about Bulgaria. Don't remember anything about it. When I looked it up I didn't have an interest in seeing anything else. Just wanted to see if what you said was correct.

Just noticed you had 28 responses to your question. Wonder what this means!
