It is very easy in some ports to catch a train to a destination, e.g. Monte Carlo, or Nice from Villafranche which is an awful lot cheaper than going on an arranged excursion. No visa requirements for Europe.

2 months ago i went to the med.

on RC voyager of the seas.

it started from barcelona, the next day: monoco france, Day 2: florence Italy, Day 3: Rome, Day 4: Naples, Day 5: Sicily Day 6: Sea, Day 7: back at barcelona.

It was a good cruise, it was alittle demanding, getting up very early to make the trips on land. This was our first med cruise so we didnt know what to expect, so we booked tours at every port, every day got up at 5 am, and didnt get back to the ship until 5-6 pm, then it repeats. We were use to caribbean sytle where there is a break from island to island with sea days, but it was a great trip.
