I'm not asking for what you would "think," I'm asking for what you "do"

Me, I would just normally look away and pretend I didn't see that person staring at me or if there's a wall nearby, I would just hide myself behind that wall. Anways, what would you do? Would you go up and talk to that person?

I nod and smile. In this area where I live (s.e. Virginia) there are thousands and thousands of sailors (I'm retired Navy myself...since 1985). Sometimes I see someone and think I know them from someplace and find myself staring at them.

First of all, keep in mind that just because the same sex stares at you, it doesn't necessarily mean they're gay and want to flirt. Unless they think they know you and are desperately trying to remember your name, it probably means simply that they admire or envy something about you. If their stare is mad or mean, (which happens between catty women), it's probably jealousy.

My sister and I each encounter this situation regularly. I may look away, but occasionally for fun I'll lock the gaze of the other person until they look away, which usually happens pretty quickly. While that may seem somewhat arrogant, it strengthens my sense of self-confidence in what would otherwise be an awkward moment. A milder personality than myself might advise you to simply smile at the starer (or nod briefly, if you're a guy). There is rarely a reason to ever talk to that person, unless you do in fact want to flirt.

You should probably be flattered that someone of the same gender is staring at you (unless of course you also catch them laughing). Just remember it is better to catch someone staring at you than be caught staring at someone else!

Smile and say hello.

It probably doesn't mean anything. If the person of the same gender is attracted, it's fine. It's not a threat to your sexuality.

I would pretend that they aren't there and I would stare the opposite way. I've done that before, that gives them the hint to fcuk off!

Smile. And act normal. Are you thinking they are attracted to you? If they approach you make nice conversation. If they hit on you, just say "dude, I'm straight".

I would walk right up to the person and say "Hello" Maybe it would catch them off guard.

Just wink and blow him a kiss. See if that makes him look at somebody else.
