Jesus taught Judaism -- it was Paul who perverted the message. Read "The Mythmaker, Paul and the Invention of Christianity" by Hyam Maccoby

Jesus' teachings, if we take the bible at face value, would have been revolutionary during the ancient times. However, even if he did preach love and peace that anyone should value regardless of religion, he did so within the context of existing Christian (by which I mean Judaism, since there wasn't any such thing like Christianity while he lived) constructs and beliefs. He did say he was the son of the God. The God was a pre-existing religious construct of an existent religion, so he was in fact teaching religion, not just moral values. Some of his obscure words go into the questions of theology and ceremonies that directly touches upon the formalities as a religion.

Jesus was teaching salvation that had been prophesied in the Old Testament. At the same time he was teaching about God, and what he thinks, throwing out parables, and basically putting Lucifer in his place. The word of Christ spread like wildfire and it looked like the whole world would soon accept the "Christian" faith, until it was declared the "official" religion by Constantine. This gave Christ's message a black eye, and his words quit spreading as quickly as before. The Catholic church didn't help matters much either after they started twisting things, and making people pay for salvation that was free. Of course that was a long time ago, but the damage was done.

guess He could not have been teaching Christianity since even the name had not been used until the truth had been brought to Antioch. How could one even know what He was teaching according to the amount of twisting done in different denominations today. As confusing as all that is

1. The teaching you refer to are in the Bible and many more that are similar and even a very written word challenged person can understand that if someone tells them accurately what the Word says.

2. If you want eternal life then evena Muslem can tell you the way to do that is written in the Word. Read it yourself you will find it is not what many "Christians " seem to think and the message is pretty clear even to those neither justified nor reconciled.

Jesus could not teach absolute Christianity as he had to die first. The main tenet of Christianity is that He died for our sins. He predicted that in his teachings. Anyone and many have taught the principles of love, which has more to do with humanism than Christianity. Such feelings and laws are at the centre of most, if not all, religions. Christianity ain't that special.

once and for all christianity is love concern and peace not a religion. People who say they are christians should all act like christ acted. Christianity is NOT a religion but it is following the teachings of christ. I don't know why people on here don't get that concept. But you are right - he was teaching those things and we would all be better off if we listened to him and adhered to his principles.

He was not teaching a religion but was revealing who God really is and how He wants us to be reconcilled to Him.

Jesus was not the only one to teach kindness, love, concern, and peace. But He is the only one to teach that He is our savior.

John 3:10-17

10 "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things? 11 I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven-the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus did more than teach. He also authenticated his teachings by showing that he was from God by doing miracles and finally raising from the dead. He also used the Jewish scriptures, showing how prophecies have been fulfilled by his coming. He also told his followers to go tell other people of his message. He created a church. He claimed he was from God.

Bottom line: Yes, he did create a new religion based on Judiasm. If someone reads all of the Gospels, not just skipping past miracles and signifigant teachings, he/she can see this.

Jesus also taught that He is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through him. He also taught that only those that listen and obey his commandments love him and love the Father. (Just read the Book of John in the Gospels)

Christian means "follower of Christ." Being a Christian is not about religion. Religion is about following a bunch of rules to be made right with God. Christianity is knowing Christ through a personal relationship with Him and knowing that He is making us right with God. If we don't call it Christianity what else do we call it?

He was also teaching about the kingdom of God, and as is recorded in John 14:6, that He was the only way.
