Hi Karen, if you don't mind me asking...what's your background? If you are from a small town in the midwest and have not been exposed to many cultures, then I suggest living closer to Coney Island. If you are relocating from another major city and had exposure to Carribean culture, then really you can live anywhere off of Flatbush. Flatbush is a huge area and it's hard to describe it in one paragraph. However, the further east you go (to Brownsville), the more vigilant you will need to be. If you live directly on Flatbush, you do not have to worry too much about safety as there are a few stores that are open either 24 hours or late into the night. I've worked in that area for a few years and have walked several blocks to the 2/5 train late at night and nothing has ever happened. However, I'm originally from DC and have lived overseas, so I have a fair amount of street sense. I hope this was helpful.

It depends on what part of flatbush you're taking about. I work the area around flatbush and church. You really dont want to live in that section and its not safe.
