I work for an insurance company and it has become my part of my position to call existing clients to offer quotes for life insurance products. I do not sell life insurance myself so I only need to try and set an appointment. I have plenty of training in sales and cold calling and currently work writing auto/home/farm policies but I am not sure how to approach life. I need a good way to call and ask clients to come in and talk with one of our life agents about writing a new life policy. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks Kate, I can definitely see your point. Just out of curiosity since obviously some of our clients would be in the same position as you and not interested in life insurance, we also offer RRSP products too. Do you think it would be wise to call and offer both? I realize I may not receive a serious answer here, but I would appreciate your honest opinion. Thanks again!

Make sure to ask a yes or no questions to engage them, then have a compelling reason they need to meet with the agent regardless of whether they say yes or no. I don't cold call, but when I meet someone new, I like to ask if they already have life insurance. Just because they do or don't doesn't mean that I can help them less.

One thing that we did in our office was to make "annual" calls to all clients and offer a "Policy Review". This really increased our policy count since we found loopholes and cracks from everyday life events over the past year. We added anything from a new purchased jewelry item, upgraded diamonds, antiques, life insurance for new babies, and married daughters, increased home values do to unknown add ons, etc. Try this and it covers just about all things! Good Luck

To make successful cold call, you must 1st analyst the client's account before you make an offer i.e. their age, marital status, no. of policy/policies purchase, income etc. What you want is just an appointment from them, so never mention that you want to sell them any products but to help them to review their products with no obligation basis, tell them this is an exclusive service from the company. That all you need to do, conversation must be short and friendly.

Good afternoon. My name is Mona Lisa. I am with your insurance company, XYZ. I am calling to ask if you, with all the cost of living scales and higher prices, have thought about updating your policy. We would like to make an appointment to go over your policy with you and see if there is any room for tweaking or upgrading your policy.>>>>>>>>

life insurance requires lots of emotional talk.

most people who purchase life insurance are with family. they buy because they want their family to have a happy life and all debt are fully paid off.

one key word ="love"

another key word =" do you have 150,000?" to cover againsts illnesses, injury, disablement or even death (final expenses)

many people dun have that amount. the family member will either borrow from banks, credit cards, family , friends or even get from social welfare.

Will it be easy to just pay the monthly premium or get into financial disaster. the premium is only less than 1 a day.

how long does it take to save 150,000. Many took a life time to accumulate that amount. Since death and taxes are certain why not just pay a regular premium today.

if some one can save a regular amount of 150 a month, it will take at least 1000 months or 83 years. or a life time. why not pay a small premium today to get that 150,000?

it will be silly and selfish of not having a life insurance.

Those who do not have life insurance is selfish and silly. they expect their problems to be resolved by their kids and spouse , brother , sister, or ageing parents. or another word is their immediate family members are his/her life insurance company ~ self insured.

Many people are in this category as they prefer to be self insured and burden their close ones.

Sell this story , a good agent must be a good story teller

Hmm I will put this story in my web as well, thanks for asking

Please , NEVER call me or I will move my business to another company .

Nothing worse than some idiot asking those of us without minor children if we want life insurance .
