in an earlier post, one the the posters stated that I needed to do some reading, and that there's a philosophy that could be life changing for me IF I'm willing to study it with an open mind"

Just so you know this comment, in my opinion, had not alot to do with the question, which was just silly in context.

but Now I'm curious

Many of you know me.
For someone such as me, with a strong faith in Christ, and a fair understanding, openmindedness and acceptance of the fragility of man (including me) and our many foibles... Do I NEED to study philosophy in order to become enlightened and / or fulfilled?

For that matter.... does ANYONE feel that need?

The Enlightenment can only begin when you reach the end of philosophy. The scripture is dead until it is alive in you, means Do not "think" to know the meanings of the teachings but Be Silent and let the Holy Spirit show you the meaning. His interpretation, unlike the minds, is always correct.

People find their way. The people that think they change the lives of others are wrong. The source of all this, the "God of Gods" has many names and many ways to be explored. In the end we'll all realize the eternity and divine nature of love. When people learn that love isn't "rainbows and unicorns", that it is in fact "sacrifice and courage" then perhaps things will change.

Can you as a Christian say that a person that never heard of God but loves and stands for whats right with integrity even if it gets him killed, doesn't have Christ in his life. Christ is in fact love.

Love is the enlightenment no matter the name of the Deity that love was inspired by.

My friend based on what you said in your question no you don't need any philosophy to know love and to be enlightened as you already are enlightened as that is a very Christlike attitude that you have when dealing with people and in your walk of life. God bless you with love in Christ my brother or sister in Christ.

i don't know you, but i think the poster's comment was valid in that having a learner's heart will keep you growing as a person.

your faith in Christ - your foundation, if you will - will not be shaken by reading or studying what others think or believe. but it will give you a deeper understanding of where the other person is coming from and that is always invaluable.

personally, i enjoy reading and hearing about valid viewpoints that are different from mine. it stretches my mind and gives me food for thought.

(((Rammie))) -- you are PERFECT just the way you are. You have your truth. You live it. Therein lies your philosophy. Therein lies your enlightenment. What more could anyone possibly need?

People who are attached to books and are unable to express themselves without them are the ones who truly need to understand their OWN philosophy. They do not own their truth, and they therefore need to gather it from other sources, thereby enabling them to validate what they do not know if they really should believe.

You already have your own philosophy, Rammie. It resonates truth within you, so why change what is not broken?

Godspeed.

Buddha became "enlightened" while sleeping under a tree...or was that Isac Newton ?

different techniques, Reverend? in basic terms one way that i understand of. ask your self "Who am I?" do no longer ask everybody else. All else is a version of this question. it is easy to commence asking another question, yet ultimately the question does exchange into this one. The question has a historic previous older than spoken or recorded historic previous and the consequence is often the comparable. ultimately, to genuine askers, the respond will become so obtrusive that he/she would be in a position to never choose a pastor returned. The very theory or theory of a "pastor" will come to appear as if a hoax performed out on him/herself. There are not any solutions of any usefulness discovered everywhere else outdoors asking oneself. With this answer the question of "data" is moot. different's claims consistent with theory or perhaps their own faith won't be in a position to be falsified - and who could want to - as they are additionally own and in accordance with their own seek. you are able to think of you have a much better answer, yet you in basic terms have your answer. go away others strictly on my own, and in case you incredibly asked that question heavily, you will evidently want to go away others on my own - except they ask as you have finished here. you will understand the two the meanness and the futility of any religious schedule. you would be flattened by the genuine experience of compasion. communicate approximately it? Don/t difficulty by using fact words are in basic terms techniques consistent with yet different techniques. rubbish
being spiritual isn't about how much you know , or what you have read
no one can tell you what gives YOU spirituality
it is a knowing , a feeling , a connectedness
each persons spirituality is different from the next

No, you don't need a philosophy. You need truth.

Truth is truth, no matter what we think or feel or "philosophize".....and if you have faith in Christ, you have truth.
