sweet onions...which type are they? the purple one or the brown ones?

which one (brown or purple) would taste better for a shrimp recipe?

Vadalia onions are sweet.......some purple ones are so strong and delicious (but I can find them) they make your nose sting.

Texas sweet 1015's are the sweetest to go with shrimp. The way you pick one is you look for the flattest one, not round. The rounder the onion is, the hotter it is, so go with the flattest one:~) That's right Vidalia onions are the same as Texas sweet 1015's
The purple onions are great for salads and sandwiches

Purple have a naturaly higher content of sugar. However there are several on the market right now that are hybrids taht are very sweet such as viadela onions. They look like a yellow onion but much sweeter.

its the purple vadalia onion and they are good for cooking and on sandwiches the brown are strong and really have a srong odor but are also good for cooking too

They are white and kind of a flat shape usually called Vidalia onions.

large white vadalia are the sweet ones.In our area,the red ones tend to be quite sharp but you can sprinkle them with sugar while cooking,to sweeten them up.
