Have you ever loved anyone?

Can you prove scientifically that love exists(existed)?

Does the fact that you can't prove you are/were in love make you a retard for believing that you are/were in love?

If someone that has NEVER felt love doesn't believe in love, does that invalidate the fact that you felt it? Does it give them the right to make fun of you and call you names because of it?

Some things in life can't be proven but can only be felt.

I feel that God exists and I feel His presence in my life. Just because YOU don't doesn't invalidate how I feel or what I believe to be true. Does it give you the right to harass me?

You just haven't seen and felt what I have and maybe one day you will, maybe you won't.

All I ask is that you respect that others can and do believe differently than you do. Treat others like you want to be treated. Is that asking too much? Or are you really just an intolerant wannabe bully?

Yes, I've felt love. Chemically the same as eating mass amounts of chocolate. But, I've never told anyone that they need to feel love, and if they don't then they're doomed for all time and eternity. I've never fought a war in the name of love. I've never done anything in the name of love but...well...love. I don't care what you believe. Honestly, I don't. My 'salvation' isn't determined on whether or not I spread god's word.
And you talk about respect?!?! Where's the respect for the constitution and the seperation of church and state? Nowhere...Where's the respect for other religions? Nowhere...Where's the respect for me wanting to believe what I do and truly being fine with that? Nowhere...instead, I'm an 'intolerant wannabe bully'....I guess you have first hand knowledge of who the TRUE bullies are, huh? You see them every week. At lest you should, or you're picking and choosing what aspects of your faith you want to follow. I don't need to stoop to personal attacks. Everyday I could give you 50 new ways how religion and it's followers affect my everyday life, my past, and my future. Can you say that about atheism or it's followers?

To let others believe what they want to believe goes against religion, and is at the core of atheism. We're lost sheep, after all...and it's up to you to show us the way, come hell or high water, whether we want to know or not.

In short, this love question is not valid, as religion is not an emotion, but a way of life. If you're equating the feeling of love with the feeling of god, isn't that, according to the bible, blasphemous and in direct violation of the first commandment? I don't think anyone is questioning that you feel or felt something, but I will question (at the top of my lungs) why you believe in corrupt organizations that exploit you and repress everyone else...in the name of god. The ultimate hypocricy.

You can't honestly contribute to a religion and not harass non-believers...That's like flushing the toilet, but not putting anything in the sewer.

Love is a word, which borderlines on hate (think about it...if you love someone and they do something to hurt/upset you, you get more pissed off than if someone you dont' really know does it right?) Also...I can prove it exists, at least for me, and that's by what I feel, and if no one ever felt love then I feel sorry for that person, that must mean that their parents beat them when he/she was little, was beat up at shcool, etc. Hard life...and it invalidates it for that person, here's the tricky thing...I believe what I believe, you believe what you believe. What you believe is not real to me, and what I believe is not real to you, so it invalidates our own personal views for each other. And I agree, what I feel doesn't negate what you feel. Even when I was Christian I didn't feel God or his persense in my life. And I don't harass anyone, I merely ask questions to get more knowledge on life and people in general. And trust me, normally Atheist DO respect others faiths, more so than a particular group of religious people that I can name....it's only when people provoke others that they tend to retaliate, basic principle of life...I'm no bully, but I can tell you of some people that are...

People such as those that you are addressing will always exist and always will (by the way, the believers are by no means innocent in this, we too sometimes show intolerance) That is probably why Christ mentioned that whole turn the other cheek thing, their hatred will only affect only as long as you allow it.

This argument again?

Nobody's trying to invalidate your feelings. No offense, but I doubt many people outside your personal circle could give a damn. And you know what? If religion was content to confine itself to that "Personal Relationship With Jesus" business, I'd have no gripe with it at all.

"Some things in life can't be proven but can only be felt," as you say. And I heartily agree.

Unfortunately, there are quite a lot of people in this country who take religion much further than that. There are people - present company not necessarily included, of course - who think religion ought to replace history and science, and that it ought to have a direct bearing on our secular laws. The "fundie" types, and even a few of the "moderates," seem to think that since they've found something that feels so "right" to them, it's only the spiritual darkness of others that prevents them from agreeing that it's "right" across the board.

What they don't realize is that secular society is exactly what allows them the freedom to find what feels "right," and that that freedom is guaranteed by the freedom of others to choose their own paths.

When I complain about religion, that's what I'm complaining about. I'm not "making fun" of anybody's religious beliefs, except insofar as they try to make them mandatory, or to apply them to matters that are frankly outside the jurisdiction of religion.

what you call believers is actually those who believe the lie.... how can you tell those who believe the lie or not because the truth has back up and the lies don't needing blind faith... We or They (I am not atheist) are the sound of the trumpets blowing... informing the deceivers that they are being deceived... you didn't listen to the agnostics when they were strong against you.. if you don't listen this time... what good are you, what good will you ever be....

Is religion a requirement for love?
I'm not here to make funny expressions I just searching for good opinions and trying to open my mind to understand the people that believe in the things that I don't believe.

As a Believer, I respect what you are trying to paraphrase, but dislike that you said it in such a condescending and demeaning way.
Do realize that you are being so counterproductive when you express the ideas of love in such a lost way?
