I have a cable box which only has AV/RCA out, S-Video Out, and a coaxial out. However, I recently purchased a HDTV which has VGA (15 Pin) inputs, and HDMI inputs but no AV (well it has place for Audio AV input, but not Video). Is there anyway I can perhaps go from AV/RCA out to VGA In, or S-Video out to VGA in? I know that its nearly impossible to go from those to HDMI, since its analog to digital. But would the other two options be possible? If so what should I use? And changing my cable box is out of the question, so dont suggest that.

The cable referred to in the first answer will not work. What you need is a stand alone TV tuner that is designed to turn a computer monitor into a TV. Preferably one with a s-video input.

If you do a google search for : tuner tv vga monitor
you will find some. The link is to a ebay auction for one of them.

If you are receiving non-encrypted analog cable, you can probably hook the tuner directly to your cable service with out using the existing cable box.

In either case, you will be viewing standard definition programing, because that is all your current cable box will output.

I agree, it sounds like it quite is the cable field. attempt connecting it making use of a various technique: component (eco-friendly, pink, blue + pink & white audio) in case you have it, then composite (yellow + pink & white), then RF (straightforward coaxial cable) if the field has it. If a variety of works, a minimum of you will have the skill to work out the menu. in case you nonetheless would be unable to get the hdmi to paintings, call your cable organisation and tell them the hdmi isn't working (however the different connections do...in the event that they do). If not one of the connections paintings, the field possibly desires provider/substitute. optimistically they are going to deliver a tech who will try the hot one and teach you it quite is working :)
