In a country dominated by mindless zealots ,who believe blindly in a hypocritical piece of literature which was written thousands of years ago, it is more courageous to speak out against the outrage that is christianity.

Kinda like bein' in a cattle stampede. Mindless, just racing around stomping all over anyone who gets in the way.

Depends on the situation...if you're taken captive by Islamic extremists and you STILL say you believe in the Chrisitan God, then you got balls...if you're discrimminated against, can't get a job, or are otherwise frowned upon by the majority of the population (such as in the U.S.) then being atheist is a much more couragous stand point...but just as it takes faith to be Christian (or any religion for that matter) it takes faith to be atheist (the faith that there is no god, etc. but with the flexibility that if there is ever a time that a god IS proven to exist, I would at least change my position.)

When it comes to religion, I don't believe you should have to choose your religion based on what you believe is more courageous. Now I'm not saying that's what your doing, but in my opinion since more of the society believes in a god, it would be more courageous to not.

Let me put it this way. If you believe in God, you not going to have a bunch of atheists threatening you with fossilization or telling you Darwin will send you back to the Late Devonian Epoch for eternity...

So I think it take more courage to be an atheist, because you have to put up with a bunch of Christians threatening you with stuff they actually believe.

I suppose that depends on the situation. If you are surrounded by evil minded people that tell you they will kill you if you profess a belief in God then belief wpould be more courageous and non belief would be more so vise versa. It only counts as courage when there is a threat for having that belief.

Alot of People Think that Believing in GOD is a Crutch.
A Weakness.

Believing in GOD is the Best Thing you will Ever do on this Sin Cursed Planet (at this Time).

GOD Created the Earth.
Adam and satan messed it up.
Only GOD can help Us with Real Spiritual Help, in All Areas of our Lives.

Pride (Thinking you can do all things yourself without GOD's Help) is a Sin.

There's a Good Pride too! So don't shout me Down!!!

actually, courage is what it takes to stand up for your belief, however, believing in God takes faith. It just takes the faith of a mustard seed to move a mountain, or child-like faith. I believe with my whole heart in God and in the Holy Bible. He is the way, the truth, and the life. God Bless you.

It depends, if you live in a country like the US where the majority beleive in God & you don't, then thats courageous, but if you live in an majority atheist country such as China then it is more courageous to beleive in God.

Good question, finally.

I think it depends on the person. I think for someone who has grown up in church his entire life, and just believed in God out of sheer force of habit, it would take a lot of courage to stop believing if he had a true loss of faith. Because of all the doctrine, that person would have to be VERY brave to step out and say "I simply don't believe in God anymore."

HOWEVER, for someone who was not very churched, who lived his entire life for himself, and never followed God, it would take a lot of courage for him to step out and trust in God. If that person had a genuine encounter with God, but still chose not to follow Him, that would indeed be cowardly. And it would be cowardly for the lifetime "Christian" to not acknowledge his doubts of God in an honest way.

It's courageous to believe in God because you have to let go of your ability to reason and think and believe in something blindly with no facts to back it up.

On the other hand, it's courageous to NOT believe in God because the majority of people believe in God and they want to destroy or convert anything that doesn't, including us Atheists.
