May I ask where you get your news? I think Bazooka wrappers have been proven to not be accurate sources of hard facts. On the other hand, the National Enquirer is getting better on a daily basis.

I think you misheard a news report--I believe the problem lies not with Pagans and Atheists, but rather with a fragrant pancreas. Those are causing all sorts of problems for people. You ought to have yours checked just for safety. They can turn toxic and create delusions.

Be well.

By the way, I couldn't find really good, firm, recent figures on the numbers of Pagans or Atheists currently serving on active duty in the US Military. I did, however, find out that in April of this year (2007), the US Department of Veterans Affairs approved the use of pentacles on headstones (grave markers) for Pagan and Wiccan personnel buried in military cemetaries or given military burials. If Pagans are Anti-American, why are they given full religious rights by the US Military? Chaplain handbooks also include instructions for ministering to Pagans of all types. I kind of doubt they changed the law to include, you know, three or four Pagans. The logical inference, at least for me, is that many, many Pagans serve in the US military, and that when they die, part of the the honor they receive from a grateful nation includes recognition of their chosen of faith. Wake up sonny boy. People of all sorts love the US and are fighting right now in uniform. And yes, they are fighting so that you have the right to express hatred. Chew on that one for a while, why don't you?

Could you please be specific about the "Anti-Americanism" you claim is being done by Pagans and Atheists ?

Or is just BEING a Pagan or an Atheist unamerican in your view.

A few Wiccan have DIED in this war, and were denied a Wiccan marker for their grave by the VA, until just very recently. It took a 9 year battle and the threat of a lawsuit, for fallen Wiccan soldiers to get a grave marker that represented THEIR faith. Now THAT's un-American !!!! There are several emblems representing Christianity, and also many other faiths. But the VA REFUSED the Wiccans their symbol for NINE YEARS.

I think it many have something to do with the fact that our commander in chief has openly opposed the rights of Wiccans in the military to practice their faith.

edited to add:

Hey AllAMerican - I am interested in your response to MY question about the UN-AMERICAN way Wiccans in the military have been treated until very recently.

So... would that be the anti-American atheists and Pagans in the military, that you're referring to? Or perhaps the anti-American atheists and Pagans in first responder jobs (fire, police, EMS) who pick up the slack when the National Guard is overseas? Or maybe just the anti-American atheists and Pagans who work in local, state, and federal government, making sure that the country runs as smoothly as possible.

I hope you'll excuse my being confused, but I just want to know exactly which ones you're talking about.

Pagans have just won a nearly 10-year battle to make the VA allow the pentacle as a sacred symbol on the headstones of Pagan soldiers who have died. If Pagans/Wiccans/Witches didn't care about this country, why would we have fought so long and hard to have the same representation for our Pagan soldiers as other religions have enjoyed for years? Guess what, doorknob - we beat you.

I wouldn't dream of making fun of our troops. We live near an air base that supports lots of people. My boyfriend is an Air Force veteran. I support the troops by wanting them brought home to their families. You're the one who needs to be made fun of.

On the contrary, Pagans are very pro-american, and support the soldiers in Iraq. At least check, there were a couple thousand soldiers in the US military who are Pagan, and many are actively seriving in Iraq. Before you make claims about a group of people, I suggest you do a little research.

Our troops in Iraq are not fighting for our freedom, and though they are fighting for the freedom and democracy of the Iraqi people, what they were originally fighting for in the beginning is Bush's oil enterprises. Bush owns stock in several very large oil companies that import oil from Iraq. There were no WMD in Iraq, everyone knows the war was a farce to begin with. Though I do not support the war in Iraq, I very highly and very clearly support the soldiers who are there fighting it.

I am willing to bet that I am way more American than you, considering I am out there every day fighting to keep the freedoms that you sit here and complain about, including the most important First Amendment rights that some people in this country would like to see taken away from everyone, including you would be forced to follow only what they think you should follow. Wake up. Pagans are some of the best American citizens on this country. They actually are proud of their freedoms, and do not take them for granted. They care about this country, and their beliefs have nothing to do with being American. America is not a Christian nation, it is a nation of many faiths and beliefs. Religious freedom means freedom for ALL religions.

Who says Pagans are Anti-American? I am Wicca and I am all for America. I support our troops and am from a family of military men! I am not sure where you get your information, but I would suggest that BEFORE you make a general statement like this again, I suggest you get your facts straight!

1. Me, Pagan, U.S. Navy Veteran, and you are?
2. Pray tell, which of our rights were the Iraqis trying to abolish?
3. Can you show me a post where a Pagan or Atheist has made fun of the troops?
4. I think what is making you ill is you having to try to breath with your head up your own backside.

It's so difficult to really understand where the fault really lies, when all we do is point fingers and accuse each other of bad things. Isn't this topic about religion and spirituality? How can we possibly consider ourselves to be spiritual, ANY of us, if our response to blind hatred is more hatred, snobbery, and accusations? I can't support most of what was said in response to this question. Many responses said (to paraphrase): "who are you to ask that?" or "shut your ignorant trap". War is a horrible thing, and it does horrible things to people, not only to those being shot at, but those on all sides. Want to make a difference? I challenge all of you, on whatever side of the fence you're on, to send out energies of peace, love and understanding, to everyone everywhere. I've had way more success fixing a situation by sending the aggressors love and Reiki than calling them names and raising my fists. It also wouldn't hurt if there was more visible truth about the reasons and costs of this war. Channel all that hatred at Halliburton and the other silent money-makers of this war. That oughta make a difference!

OK first of all they are not fighting for our Freedom...Freedom barely exists anymore...that happened when 9/11 happened, have you ever read any of the new rules like "The Patriot Act" and "Homeland Security" they take away a lot of our freedom..I respect our troops in every-way and I pray for them So don't think I am against them, but I am against the Government that sent them there...Where is Osama Benladen anyway?...did they stop looking for him?...they got side tracked now their new Country to target is Iran...what are they finished with Iraq? There is so much killing going on and it is not in anyway shape or form "For Our Freedom" Does anyone else seeing this getting out of hand? By the way I am Christian..so stop generalizing that Pagans and Atheist are "Anti American"...maybe they are just anti "BS" like me.

oh boy another troll.

Actually I'm Pagan. I've never made fun of the troops in Iraq. My cousin was over there for quite some time. I may disagree with the war but I do respect our troops and their willingness to fight for us.
