300 ft,in 3 seconds; People want a "positive" Msg;
I want to hear what God has annointed the Minister

Yes,Jesus did teach love,compassion, and forgiveness but He also spoke about the reality of hell. He said it was eternal and a place of torment. All who reject His free gift of salvation will go to hell,where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. This is what the apostles taught and believed as well. God does not wish that anyone should perish but all have eternal life. Unfortunately,many will choose to be willfully ignorant of the truth and love darkness instead of light. Even though the light of the world(Jesus Christ)has come into the world.

I agree with you on this. BUT remember the "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" sermon by Johnathan Edwards? Well, I'm sure you could garner what THAT was about...and he was trying to have a rebirth of the Calvinist and Puritan faiths I believe...didn't work out...so, hopefully that'll happen to all the peole who do the fire and brimstone speechs....Also, Jesus ALSO said that anyone who doesn't believe in him must also not believe in God (for some odd reason....)

You are so right.
Jesus taught with parables (catering to people's individual understanding), with compassion and tolerance. The only people he ever condemned were the hypocritical religious leaders of his time!
Hypocrisy seemed to be very prevalent among the religious leaders in Jesus' time. What happened to the leadership of the Jews between the revelations of Moses and Joshua, and Jesus' time?
I think the answer to that may give us some insight into the status of "hellfire and damnation" preachers and what Jesus thinks of them.

That only works on the weak willed. Those who fall for such scare tactics easily - especially if they have been told that all of their life, they just seem to fall naturally into it and do it to others. And I think some get a rush from the power it gives them over those types of people. Though, personally, I wouldn't call that power... they don't have any authority to begin with. It's like the new guy at work that thinks people should treat him like the Owner of the Company.

Yes it is work. Islam is the fastest growing religion in USA, Europe and entire world.
Christian preaching of love they neighbor, compassion etc. are only good words. In reality most Christians do not love but hate their neighbors specially if they are Blacks, Mexicans or foreigners. I don't see Christians practicing what they preach.

I am with you on this one. Jesus never did tell His disciples to warn people of burning in hell forever. Most preachers use the hellfire approach because they don't know the true Gospel nor the Bible.

Those are the ones that can't get their heads out of the Old Testament. They think they have to scare everyone into submission.
