It depends on what time scale you're talking about. Ten years from now, things won't be much different. A hundred years from now, they might be quite different.
As for Americans having to emigrate, I doubt that will happen any time soon. It's a rich country with a lot of natural resources and pretty good living conditions compared to much of the world. As long as we don't screw things up badly, it will remain a good place to live and work for a long, long time.

The conservatives will not allow the American people to prosper. They think prosperity belongs to only 2% of the population..(them?). We all could be fairly wealthy as the managers of the new world order in this age of information...let the other countries do the industrialisation..Nice try, but the republicans want wealth in the hands of only a few....the ignorant fumbles again and again!

One thing is for sure, there will always be a need for garbage pick up, toilet cleaning and food prep for the rich. They need their toys, so we can be assured anything in the electronics and mechanical area will need to work for them. They will need their clothes dry cleaned, their wine uncorked and their yard and gardens manicured. Speaking of manicures, there is also the spas. Forget making clothes, they will just go to Paris and pick up the latest fashions. Entertainment...they must be entertained. Last, but most important...medical care. They will want the best and as close to their present location as possible. The rich simply cannot be kept waiting.
One factor most American Corporations seem to forget....if they continue to send jobs overseas...who in this country could afford to buy their cheap crap from China?

there are plenty of jobs where I live in South Florida, the problems lies with people wanting to start at the top of the pay scale instead of working up to the top. I am 49 years old and have worked since I was 15, I have never had to have a roommate or anyone else pay my bills, I have always worked in the service industry, as a cosmetologist or a waitress. I have owned my own home for 15 years, $ in savings accounts, and Cd's

No, I think next year they will just invent a power cord for your Xbox that allows it to draw energy from little pads on your skin...
Americans are just batteries for the machine...
Job? who has one of those? That's like ancient history....
Have you noticed the self-checkouts at Wal-Mart? The city police have to park out front to ward off some of the theft because Wal-mart won't hire people anymore...
Technology is only being used to prevent hiring real people.
Cheri H - I live in South Florida too - and your experience is RARE... there are just millionaires and welfare cases as far as the eye can see.

Its a shame that kids will be growing up with run down cities due to illegal immigrants. Maybe if we can get them out of here there is still a chance to preserve the beauty that is America.
