Ad blocker, not pop up blocker

Use FireFox and load the AdblockPlus extension, or use the Avant browser which is a layer on top of MSIE and adds advertising, popup and flash blocking.

I also block Java on FireFox with NoScript and also run FlashBlock to stop all those irritating animated adverts.

I get virtually no popups or adverts. Where people are particularly inventive or insistant I define their domain to be localhost in the hosts file, that redirects all network accesses from my machine to my local web server instead of theirs.

If you have Firefox, you can download adblock plus at:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

This also works with seamonkey, and will block most ads
(the ones actually on the page, not popups)
