Despite what anyone's "religion" is, that is a side issue....a person is what is in their heart, no matter what religion they are. That is why I find it so amusing when people criticize each other for their religion, and not for who they are. WE ARE NOT OUR RELIGION--no matter what it is. I am Christian, but I am not God and I am not Jesus, and I am not CHRISTIANITY itself. I am me (duh) who has certain truths. I am still a human with MANY faults. JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. duh-we are all stupid humans.
I am not picking on you, but it would be the same as if someone in your family did something terrible....even though you are in the same family..you are not the person who did the terrible act. Yes, it stings, but it shouldn't make your whole family be judged for the one person's poor choice. People group people together as an excuse to satisfy themselves...

Don't understand what maturity in children and "some" adults has to do with any religion? Does this mean that "all" children should be taught to be mature, but only some adults need to be taught maturity? What's the distinction between children and some adults? That sounds like a controlling person to me, especially when it comes to the children. Religion isn't going to hurry the process of maturity in children. That would be for adults too. Let children be children for as long as they can. The maturity will come at it's own time, religion or no religion. I don't agree with you about children and Christmas, the naughty or right thing. Christmas isn't about holding "guilt" over some child's head to keep them from not being naughty. God wouldn't even think in those terms. There isn't a perfect being in this world nor will there ever be. Children will be naughty Christmas or not. So what you're saying, Christmas is based on naughty or nice and not on an important Birthday. Why must children and adults be taught, if you're naughty you go to hell, but God still loves you, and if you're good your reward is heaven instead of the fear of death. I never liked the heaven/hell thing, and to this day I still don't. All it does to children is it scares the hell out of them. Religion shouldn't be a scary, I don't believe that's what God intended to do at all. It's those who teach the children about heaven and hell, naughty or nice. I'm Catholic and went to Catholic grade school and hight school. I'll tell you now there are smoother ways to teach children and adults about religion. I will never teach my children in the same way as I was taught. It simply isn't necessary and there are other ways that they can respect religion instead of the fear of hell and damnation. I now see what this is all about, you oh so Christian person. It's all about Christians and Atheists. Can't you just come out of the closet and say what's really on your mind? You hate all Atheists! Now, now we all must love one another, right? Stop running around the bush long enough to realize how you fester with your dislike for the Atheists. Leave people alone that you don't even know so you can stop festering about your hatred toward your fellow men and women. You have a lot of work to do with your self. Have a good day if you can live with yourself.

There have been some who misused their power in the church through out history, but it is still alive. Darkness is everywhere. The temptation of man has been the target of the dark side even in the church unfortunately. Now is the end times when all will be revealed and all will come to light.
Loving others and setting a good example should be your only concern and let the rest up to God to work out. Do you think he can handle it?

All religions of the world at times will do things that are not pleasing to God. So with prayer and confession we can get right with God again. Some religions are not God oriented. They are set up to please man not God. Every group that says they are a religion is not founded on Christian principals. If the Bible is not their main guideline, they are not following God's will.

It is a little embarrassing and hurtful to see people of your faith acting wrongfully but it only reflects upon me in a communal way because I have also have a personal relationship with God which overshadows it.

Considering I'm Pagan (a witch in fact) and the mainstream is under the impression that we're all evil anyway: there really aren't any people that I think give us a "bad name."

When people will stand outside before, during and after the church service smoking cigarettes.
People who assume things about others. How do they know, unless they ask that person. I must assume.
I hope people don't become Christian, because we don't need anymore hypocrites.

It's a combination of sad and angry. Sad that it happened and angry at those who should have known better.....
(Unless it is racists and radical nationalists "piggy-backing" on my religion, in which case, it is just angry)

I think it is incumbent on you to speak out, and admonish those that represent your faith incorrectly.
Not to do so would seem like you are condoning such belief and behavior.
