What seems irrational to me is for a person to declare themselves to be a God...to suggest that they themselves are all knowing and omnipotent. Science and reason and evidence are accepted methods for acquiring knowledge and, in my experience at least, when exercised, have the effect of making people more aware of just how many things they do NOT know. Only people who choose to ignore science, reason, and evidence can be so secure in their own knowledge that they will claim to know that something doesn't exist because science, reason, and evidence haven't provided any proof! Thank God the great scientists, philosophers and researchers didn't and don't have such confidence in their own knowledge and are willing to continue using those tools to seek answers to their questions!

this is a common misunderstanding among those who do not know any history, so thank you for the opportunity to explain. Christians believe that rationality is God-given, and so we are supposed to be rational all the time. Christian thought assumes the perfection of rationality, in God. Many scientists and philosophers have been Christian (and Muslim, and Jewish) throughout the past 2000 years. God is not nonsense, but the height of rationality. That is why God is the Logos, etcetera. Have a great day!

What amuses me the most is why church buildings have steeple lightning rods.
