I can cook but I just wanted to know if cooking is an issue or not. I grew up cooking and love it but some women can't or don't know how or don't like it. I have nothing against women who can't cook.I just asking guys what would you prefer?

All of you had awesome answers. Most do men do prefer it. I realize that there is more important things to a relationship than cooking.

It is certainly a factor. But not the same for everyone. It depends on two things. If his Mom was a good cook, or if he is a good cook.
If his Mom was one of those amazing cooks that makes everything just perfect, then he'll want to find a woman that can cook. That way he still gets all that good food.
On the other hand, if he can cook, it won't be as important. He'll be able to make the food himself, so it's not a big deal.
For me personally, my wife is banned from my kitchen. She can't cook well, and hates it too. But some guys have never, ever learned to cook and are quite helpless without TV dinners and take out. So really it depends on the guy. But being a good cook certainly helps. The quickest way to a man's heart really is through the stomach. (that works for women too)

Well i'm no guy, but speaking from observation, i'd say it doesn't really matter so long as the guy really loves the girl, whether or not she can cook is irrelevant. Most guy's reason they could always buy take out or eat from their parents' house. But some girls who can't cook or don't like to, make the effort to do so when they enter into a relationship. They purchase cook books and try the various recipes which help to hone their cooking skills. So even though some girls may not be cooks prior to meeting their men, they learn how to. So I see no reason why cooking skills shoud be a major factor in a relationship, cause it isn't rocket science, anyone can do it. And if all fails, there's always a restaurant, fastfood outlet/some food vendor or his parent's house.

It's a fairly personal thing of course but it's much less important than it used to be. Personally it doesn't matter to me since I'm a great cook but also prefer to eat out almost every meal. I live in a major city so short of simultaneously dating a dozen professional chefs no one could ever match the quality and variety of restaurants.
Perhaps in small rural areas it's it's still as important as it was in much of the country many many years ago but now a woman is going to have to bring a heck of a lot more to the relationship table than her domestic abilities.
Now having said that. If we met I would probably out of politeness tell you it was important and compliment you on your cooking. I'm not going to be rude and tell you it doesn't matter that much to me. But in reality someone's cooking ability is pretty low on the list of things that go into making a successful relationship.
I personally would place more value on being able to appreciate a good bottle of wine or speak a second or third language.

well in the typical life (which ppl are fast growing out of now) cooking was a women's job. but it'd work out coz when a man would come home all tired she'd make some totally delicious food which makes his whole day worthwhile. and anyways u cannot always order fastfood u know. and i have heard children speak that nothing is as good as mother's food so keep up the good cooking!

I myself am a great cook, I almost went to culinary school but decided on business school instead. I learned to cook from my dad who was good at it, but iam better then he was.
My wife wehn we met was thrilled as she is not the best cook, I am way better than she is. But, I can not bake even bronies, she is a great baker, so we both have our strengths, so we make a great team. Maybe you can be a good team with someone potentially.
And yess, women I have worked with in the past and work with now, are very jealous of my wife, because she has me. i tell woemn at work: you know what i made last night? i tell them stuff like baked tilapia or swordfish steaks with a soy and lemon glaze and they get impressed. Women at work tell my wife to keep me around!!

A woman who can cook is definitely a plus point.. Actually, looking at that aspect, any woman who can cook well, wont have too bad a personality.. So cooking somehow allows people to gauge their character.. And as we all know, great personality is a must have for all working relationships..

It varies from men to men. Generally women who cook is a preference, but good men, such as myself, prefer women who are willing to learn to, from them. I'd prefer a lady who is wiling to let me teach her, to cook.
