Depending where you're located, it could be classed as either "Littering" or "tampering with a vehicle".
And as Global Warming is a hoax, you may as well just use the flyers for toilet paper for all the good it'll do.

Well, if the vehicle is on public way in Chicago, it's not illegal, it's just advertising.
But I'd advise against it, since it is actually littering, and it could be thought of as a contradiction to your statement of purpose.
Freedom of speech, on the other hand, is protected in the U.S., so you could stand on a much-traveled street corner to voice your concerns. You could also upload a webpage.
In any case, you would have to be very careful with your words, or how you word your flyer or other medium - if anything can be considered libel, you could be sued or jailed.
I think people already know what combustion is doing to the atmosphere. It's not only SUV's - older cars, airplanes, and industry contribute incredible amounts. If you take all the SUV's off the road, it wouldn't be a solution, or even put a dent in our current problem.
We must implement a way to take out whatever we put in.
I do not think flyers are the answer.

Maybe.
Here's the thing, your mission is pointless. Not that I entirely disagree with the sentiment...but your idea will accomplish nothing. Why is this? Well, if someone is driving an SUV in this day and age, they are composed of two groups of people. Those who won't change, and those who can't change.
Those who won't change are those who think it is their right to drive whatever they want. That air pollution is made up. That there is no oil crisis. Etc. One little piece of paper isn't going to change their mind, in fact the annoyance will most likely cement them even more firmly in their anti environmental stances. "F'n green wackos! I'll drive what I want! Just for that I'm going home and burning some styrofoam!" and so on.
Those who can't change are people who bought their vehicle years ago who didn't realize gas was going to get so expensive and maybe didn't know about air pollution. Now they're stuck because they can't afford a whole new car. Or they actually need the SUV for what it's supposed to be used for (a light truck) and they use it to tow things for work, or haul alot of people, or drive in unpaved areas. It is again pointless to harass these people because they haven't done anything wrong, and will once again be turned away from being environmental in other areas that they can control. "Screw energy star appliances, those eco nuts littered on my Yukon!"
So leave people alone. If they're going to change, and can, they will. Their pocketbooks will help to encourage them more than a single annoying flier ever could. :)

Personally, I don't think flyers are very effective for marketing. Word of mouth is better & more cost effective.
And, I own an SUV and an R350. My husband also owns a trucking business. Yes, we're well aware of the emissions our vehicles output. We also have 4 children and chose the vehicles that we liked the most based on what we use our vehicles for.
However, we do offset our fuel costs & emissions by using FFI products. We get improved MPG and especially with my husband's trucking business, we save about $300/month on fuel. Not only that, the products have been proven to reduce emissions by up to 75%. So, I feel so much better for using them.

it is not environmentally friendly to print up all those flyers using ink and paper----if these suvs are on private property you can get a ticket for using their parking lot for your advertising --even if it is for a good cause. i watch people who had flyers on their cars and what they do is dump them to the ground--litter. so i would not advise this ---anyway if people are liking the suv they will not like you-----it is hard to fight a wall---some people are just selfish and want what they want. now lets look at the people who NEED suvs---they may have done something to help---like planting trees, cleaning up our waterway, buying friendly products betterhealthandmore.com or the like---i guess what i am saying is not to judge but do something yourself to help the environment. i believe in being friendly to the environment for the world sake but you can make people believe something they don't want to believe.

No, but you're not earning yourself any fans, because a) you're wasting paper and littering with the flyers and b) some people drive those cars because they need them. For some handicapped people, an SUV is the only thing they can drive comfortably and equip to fit their needs. Wouldn't you feel bad about putting a flyer like that on someone's car if it turned out they had a disability and needed it to get around? Granted, most people just drive these things because they want them, but hacking everyone off isn't going to do one thing for your cause.

for some years, environmentalism has been the Left's ideal excuse for increasing government administration over our strikes in techniques the two great and small. it incredibly is for mom Earth! it incredibly is for the youngsters! it incredibly is for the whales! yet formerly, the doomsday-difficulty environmental scares they have trumped up have not been great adequate to offer the sinister prize they want maximum of all: entire administration of yankee politics, financial interest, or perhaps guy or woman habit. With international warming, whether, greenhouse gasbags can argue that vehicle emissions in Ohio threaten people in Paris, and that basically international government can handle such problems. national sovereignty? Democracy? ignore it: international warming has now delivered the Left closer to international government, statism, and the eradication of guy or woman rights than it has ever been formerly.

You can get sent to the local mental hospital where all the believers in global warming belong! The owners of large SUVS are actually saving lives by helping the economy. I have actually thought about putting flyers on Ford hybrids letting them know that if the reason they bought their car was to help fight global warming they are responsible for the dths of up to 2,000 children per day. By doing something to show that you are helping to fight this hoax your are helping the economy and therefore doing your part to help the human race. So instead of wasting your life trying to promote the demise of 2,000 people per day why not write your local politician to quit spending billions of US tax dollars on the global warming hoax. Those who believe in this hoax need to start to go to Church and ask God to forgive them for their greed and unconcern for the well being of their fellow man.
By the way my Hummer is green!!

I say go for it. I am in south africa and I get those stupid fliers all the time. maybe yours would actually be intresting to read. I dont get how it can be illegal, seriously, how much is it gonna harm someone to read something they might not know, then pass it along or into the trash. most of the time those cars are a status symbol at the cost of the environment, whereas people with older cars that pollute more just cant afford to get a 'green' car.

i'm not necessarily supporting anyones side, but as for those who say she's destroying trees: the paper she'd print them on would already be in existence before she prints them. it's not like she's going to the amazon to cut down trees. she's using paper at the store, paper already in existence.
as for raising global warming awareness: personally, i'd advise against it. people sue for anything and everything, and most people are aware of global warming anyways. an alternative would be wearing a pro global warming shirt, or writing to your congressman, or something like that.
