Sounds like you need a clutch adjustment, or that the clutch is so worn that it needs to be replaced. When doing this do it properly to ensure long time dependability, replace the clutch disc, the pressure plate and the throwout bearing. Some people try to cut corners by just doing the disc. Then one cold winter day.............

your slave cylinder has nothing to do with the ingage unless its low on fluid, sounds like your binding in your throw out bearing or your pressure plate is having some problems.... ie bent fingers.....

First of all, it's spelled "slowly", "engage" and "pedal" and most likely your clutch disc is worn out.
