I just want you to know, I have had FMS (fibromyalgia syndrome) for almost 25 years. It was incapacitating for a long time and I tried pretty much every drug out there with little effect. Now though, my FMS hardly bothers me at all. The reason?? I started swimming 2 to 3 times a week. It doesn't cause pain like trying to lift weights, swimming is a gentle exercise that will make all the difference in your world. Now, I only have a bad day once-in-a-while instead of only having a good day once-in-a-while. I just wanted to share with you, the thing that changed my life for the better for good.
Good Luck,
c-ya

Hi Im Chris, I have Lupus and have had Fibromyalgia. I know a bit about Nuerontin, since they use it for siezures, and nerve pain, both of which I get from the Lupus. I have never heard of it being used for Fibromyalgia. The reason being is that Fibromyagia is a condition of the muscles and not the nerves. Nuerontin can be very affective in treating nerve pain, but it wouldn't do anything for muscle pain, unless the doctors objective is to get you to sleep. It does make you sleepy, however it may make Fibro Fog worse. Because it is a rather heavy drug, I know when I took it, I had a difficult time at any dose remaining awake, focusing, heck even walking, I was always kinda dazed. So I'm not sure that it would really help a Fibromyalgia Paitent.
I do know that increasingly, and some in the Yahoo Support group I co-own are having some ease or better with Cymbalta. Cymbalta helps with Sleep (which many Fibro paitents have major problems getting), Muscle pain, and even some of the Fibro brain fog, so you may want to talk to your doctor about trying that. That may be a viable option. I do know there can be some side effects for some, but most seem to get past them within a week or two (they vary, and where unspecific). But the ones trying it, perfered the side effects to the Fibro pain.
I can give you the link to our group, we don't just deal with Fibromyalgia, but Lupus and all other kinds of autoimmune diseases, but have extensive links, and files. So if you would like support, information, and friendships with others like you you can check us out, we are a rather chatty bunch.
Good Luck
Chris

Not for fibromyalgia, but for other illness.
It makes you sleepy....it helps if you have pain in your limbs....if you jerk at night and cannot get to sleep due to the pain in your limbs or because of the jerking....do not drive under the influence of this drug until you know how your body responds to it. It takes time for your body to adjust to new medications.
Consult with your pharmasist for more information....they tend to know more than the doctor when it comes to the medication.

I tried it for several weeks Butterfly. I could not tell anything different at all. I asked my Dr. what it was supposed to help and he said 'well if you can't tell, there's no need to take it'.
