a BIN file is a file that can be recognised by a program like Nero 6, it is an image of a CD and cannot be understood by your computer until it has been burned onto a CD

As has already been stated, the .bin file needs to be burned to a CD/DVD or mounted using a program such as Daemon Tools.

I much prefer to burn them to CD/DVD using a program called ImgBurn, which is a free program that you can obtain from the first url below.

You can obtain Daemon Tools from the second url below. (Daemon Tools is a shareware product, so you'll have to pay for that.)

Edit:

Apparently, there's a free version of Daemon Tools (the Basic edition). You can download that from the third url below.

You need a program called "Daemon tools". It creates a virtual drive allowing the cue/bin (image files) to be accessed via your computer.

If you're not prepared for the hassle, you might as well save yourself and go on splash out on the £20 that PC games are.

I found a free download of Daemon Tools here http://bit.ly/1wDkYlO

Daemon Tools lets you create virtual devices and "mount" the most common image file formats without needing to burn a CD/DVD.
