well it is a little hard to answer without knowing the breed or size of your new buddy.
I named my toy poodle puppy, Torii Hunter, Torii for short cuz I love the MN Twins baseball team.

You might want to pick one that sort of 'matches' your dog. Like if your dog does something a lot, [ex. follows you around= Buddy], you could call him something about that. Or, something about what he looks like [if he's black & white = Oreo].
