In this current war, you have no idea who your enemy is, they do not wear identifying uniform, much like Vietnam.

This is only from a bit of information on strategic retreat that I picked up while observing the interest that the US has in that territory. I would say it is closely relating to the Iran war of the 80's, and more due to long range defense of the US territory out of retaliatory fears. We understand that "terrorism" is a major issue in the Palestinian and Israeli Region, it primarily stems from the actions utilized in those wars. Much of it possibly from the German/Israeli conflict. Those conflict flowing over into the neighboring territories, due to close political and historic relations. Any first rate historian can track the conflict over the past 100 or so years of wars.

The American involvement is that they have been an open gate to nations that sought ways of hiding terrorist and now the evidence of full scale American interference is the political news that reaches the US population. If you're asking for specifics, do your homework and less allowing the people that are truly peaceful residents in the US from being mistreated like that of the 1964 atrocities and various social imbalances over the many diverse cultures in the country.

I will say this much though. When you see a wealthy foreigner fleeing a nation or country that is being overpowered by a UN sanctioned force, they are usually the cause of that countries problem. We have allowed to be the tactic in the US, money begins to drive the depressed to commit un-checked social abuse.

This is just a point of concern I have within these Q&A logs. The amount of time that is spent rationalizing the foreign social problems, we ought to be resolving the matters that are no different here in the US. We send our children to fight for one side or the other without resolving the atrocities within the daily lives of the US population siphoning off the resources to place the un-aware community in social and financial ruine. !~CHANT~A~SEALLAH~!

The only similarity that exists is between the Korean Conflict and the military action taken against Iraq in 1991. Both were UN Peace Enforcement Missions authorized by the UN Security Council under Chapter Seven of the UN Charter.

They are worlds apart.

The Korean conflict was two conventional armys. The Iraqi conflict is a conventional army and an irregular army.

Also, in Korea, both sides had superpower backing. This made it a proxy war between the Soviets and the Americans. In Iraq, the jihadists really only have Iran backing them up.

Well that war was waged by sovereign nations over an aggressive bid for unilateral unification....Iraq is a fratricidal civil war caused by unwarranted United States aggression (in the case of Gulf War II, not war #1 with Bush 41)

Quite different, although our role in Iraq is somewhat similar to North Korea's role as the attacker without cause.

One other similarity is that Truman waged war without declaration of war from Congress, as did Bush, and I think (as do some constitutional scholars) that the action of both Presidents is illegal.

Probably Truman got away with it because he had strong UN backing. In that sense, the UN declared war for us.

Another possible FUTURE similarity is that the end of the conflict will result in the status quo being re-established, that is, a North and South Korea and an Iraq ruled by a strong man without elections.

The Iranians will not send military formations across the border if it looks like we are winning. They know that they won't have near the impact the Chinese had in N. Korea and we will slaughter their "Human Wave" assults.

Iraq' s chaotic govt isn't that much worse than S. Korea in the early 50's and look how far they have come!
