My husband's family reunion is coming up next weekend and I want to bring something everyone will love. Basically, they need to be totally impressed and think I'm the best cook in the world and a wonderful person in general! = D

I thought about BBQ meatballs maybe. What is the first dish you go for or what is something you normally take that everyone loves?

This is a potato and ham casserole I often take to gatherings, it is very popular and I seldom have leftovers to take back home.

Ham and Cheese Potato Casserole

6-8 medium pre-cooked potatoes (or a 2-lb pkg of frozen hash browns)
1/4 cup diced onion
1 can (10 ¾ oz.) cream of chicken soup (or cream of celery)
1/2 soup can milk
1 cup sour cream
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup ham, finely diced
Topping:
3/4 cup crumbs
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup grated sharp cheese
PREPARATION:
Heat oven to 350 deg.

Thaw frozen potatoes or cook fresh potatoes and cut into cubes
Place potatoes in a greased 2-3 quart casserole dish or a 9x13 cake pan.

Saute onion in 1T of the butter and spread over potatoes.
Combine soup, milk, sour cream, ham, 1 Cup cheese. and salt and pepper to taste. For a creamier dish, add 2-3 tablespoons additional milk. Mix well. Spread over potato/onion mixture.

Melt remaining butter and combine with crumbs. Sprinkle crumbs over mixture.

Deviled eggs. They are pretty easy to do, but most people don't take the time. If you take the time to pipe the yolk mixture usng a pastry bag and tip and then sprinkle paprika and dill weed on top, they can look like you spent a lot of time :). I make some pretty good ones, so my friends and family insist that deviled eggs are what I have to bring to EVERY pot luck. In fact they tease me that I'm not allow to attend if I don't bring deviled eggs. Good luck

I go for the pasta casseroles first and the pasta salads that don't have mayo. My husband goes for the Swedish meatballs and deviled eggs and BBQ-ed anything.

I love potato salad, cabbage rolls, different kinds of pasta salads, chili, cheese ball with crackers, sausage rolls, cold cuts (meat) plate with cheese, hot casseroles which is kinda hard to do when you go to a potluck.
