It all depends on the person you wish to explain it to.

First and foremost, they have to want to learn about it. Otherwise, you're wasting your time.

Second, the disposition of the person you are trying to reach is a huge factor. Put simply, give the person/people only what they can "handle"; give it to them at their level.

Third, be patient with everyone and accept that the majority of people you speak to will probably find some element(s) of Catholic Doctrine irreconcilable.

Just know that those whom you do get through to will be eternally greatful for your help in developing their spirituality.

Lastly, the best and fastest way to learn how to share your faith is to do it.

Might I recommend a book that has helped me greatly. "How Not to Share Your Faith: The Seven Deadly Sins of Apologetics", by Mark Brumley.

It's best not to try, having been brought up Irish Catholic, having gone to Catholic school, it is hard to explain, it just something you are. Having gone to on to be Catholic light, I have ceased to try to explain anything to anybody. They ask but don't want to listen, they feel a need to put down everything THEY don't believe. The world is full of other thoughts, religions and beliefs. I for one like to know about all things and try not to judge or win people over to my way of thinking. I just want to learn and not be ignorant of the ideas and thoughts people have.

I am Catholic, and I don't need to explain anything to anyone about my faith. Catholicism don't owe an explanation to anyone who hates it.

edit: okay, to anyone who asks, who obviously wants to know the truth about what Catholicism is all about, and is willing to listen, of course I try to sit down with that person and explain.

That can take a LONG time, depending on the sophistication of the listener. Probably the best place to start is to take them to Sunday mass, then go to lunch. Explain the significance of the service, the 7 sacraments, and the connections thought to be traceable back to the original apostles.

If they have questions you cannot answer, then you can either refer them to a conversion class or the priest.

Catholics are the original Christians, and the Catholic Church is the Church founded by Jesus Christ, who appointed the Apostle Peter as the first Pope.

we lead by example and let them come to the flock. its not easily explained with just a few words, it takes reading, study and great examples of piety and religiosity.

unfortunately some people don't know how to read. these ones may take a little bit longer.

Explain it only when people ask.

Otherwise, it's prudent to keep the sticky bits of your religion to yourself.

what you have to do is gather all the bibles and burn them. Catholicism only uses bits and pieces of the bible to validate a bunch of man made rules

Here is catholicism:A man made religion where they MIX the old covenant with the new. They do NOT believe one sacarifice of Jesus on the cross is good enough and therefore think we need the mass to keep sacrificing Him over and over again each Saturday night.Jesus is a white man with blue eyes and LONG blonde hair who needs his Italian mommy with black hair to answer his prayers for him.We remove and often break the 2nd commandment which says "thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images".Some catholic priests like little boys.
