I've lived in Southern Illinois my entire life, we have what's a lot like a watered down Western Kentucky accent. A slight southern twang I guess. So I just moved into a dorm more up north with a lot of people from Chicago. Mostly everyone almost always mentions my accent. So is this a bad thing when talking to the Chicago girls? I'm pretty sure I could at least northern it up a little if needed.

Don't lose the accent unless you want to lose it.
I lived in Texas for a while and they thought my Pittsburgh accent was so funny. I wasn't going to change it for anything. They laughed at me sometimes. I had to explain to them what I meant. I even had my family send me a Pittsbughese dictionary. I kept it on my table so when people visited they could look thing up if they weren't sure what I meant.

the only reason you should ever get rid of anything is if it bothers YOU and you don't like it.
That is part of your roots. If your uncomfortable with it--then take some speech classes, otherwise, any girl--whether she's from Chicago or Paris should accept you for YOU.
It's part of your character and makes you a unique individual.
Why not try to make it a positive aspect with the ladies--say it's part of your charm.

No way, leave it alone.
I live in south Texas, have a hell of an accent. Spent some time in Chicago myself, took my jeans, my hat AND my accent with me, had an awesome time with the women there.
Chicago is an awesome town.......

You'll be fine. I'm sure they are mentioning it because they have lived in a certain area most of their lives, and want to know where everyone is from. It's typical of Dorm living to get used to the neighbors.

Don't loose your accent just because of some girls! Other prettier girls may like it! And plus, it will be very difficult to lose your accent, it's part of you!!

absolutely not! Do you want to sound like everyone else? You are who you are because of your upbringing, your environment and your culture. Don't forsake who you are because you think people say you sound different. There are plenty of men and women who will think that you sound sexy and that your accent is what attracts them to you. More power to you and your accent.

It will happen naturally the longer you are there, but don't feel bad about having an accent, it distinguishes you and it's part of who you are and where you are from.

I have found that girls love accents, they think its kinda erotic. Im from Ohio and my "o"'s sound like a's, women love it. They also love country boys, so work that out too.
