Many Christians (for example, Pat Robertson) have said that natural disasters are messages from God. What does this current oven-roasting of the deep south (one of the most Christian areas of the US) convey from the Almighty?

What’s going on? After nearly two weeks of 90-to-100+ degree weather with no appreciable rainfall, the foliage is becoming so stressed that it is shutting down ahead of schedule. Some of our friends are going river canoeing today, but the water level in the French Broad River is so low that they may need to carry their canoes for part of the way.

Blaming someone/anyone else for anything and everything is Robertson's excuse for taking blame off of his own prejudiced a*s and putting it on someone else. Consider this: personally, I believe that a Divine Power created the Universe and then stepped back to let 'natural laws' run their course...cycles of heat, cold, greenhouse effects, etc. I'm gonna bet that long before there were women with big hair and guys with pickup trucks in The South, there were heat waves and humidity; and there will be long after those Southern belles and Bubbas are long gone. I also believe that Pat Robertson, Jimmy Braggart, Robert Tilton and most of the other tele-evangelist hatemongers will have their own corner in Hell...today, it's in Dallas and Atlanta, tomorrow, it will be in a real hell. Me? I'm gonna have a cocktail and take a swim. P.S.: God loves you, even if everyone else thinks you're a/an ________ .

The fact is, is that it has been long foretold, by quite a few religions, that this Aeon is going to end in FIRE, just as the last one ended in WATER. So, you can think of it as a 'foretaste of things to come". Also, there is also the mundane explanation that these heatwaves are the natural result of climactic change brought about as the result of pollution of various kinds. Anyone who thinks that the pouring of TONS of pollutants of various kinds into the air, water and earth is NOT a 'contributing factor' to the current radical fluctuations and aberrations of the climate is a deluded idiot in extreme denial, or, more likely, is in the pay of 'Big Business" to say so, so that we will go on doing what we are doing to the earth in order that "Big Business' will suffer no 'financial loss" The fact that business will suffer once famine hits and people start starving and dying en masse never seems to occur to them at any time. Oh, and a LOT of the problem too, is that due to the demands of industry, the water table is being 'sucked dry' , and thus not only the SURFACE is drying out, the water supply is DISAPPEARING as well. I know this because my partner has a Ph.D in Hydrology and he told me a LOT about what is currently happening with the water table.

The jet stream has been pretty far north for the past month. This is the same reason they’ve had so much rain in England and the northern US.

The more worrisome cause is expanding deserts in Africa, which sends more dry air over the Atlantic and could eventually cause the Southeast US to become desert.

The message, we need to begin to take better care of this magnificent planet.

Well, if I were christian I'd say that god has decided to turn the heat up in Hell a little bit. But since I'm not, I guess god hasn't said anything yet because he said all he was going to say when the Council of Nicaea wrapped up it's voting.

Heat is normal here in the south, actually it's not hot to me I've seen it get a lot hotter here. It's cool when you start seeing mirages when you look out across the landscape, don't see any yet.
