Can it happen with depression?
I feel scared that people will find out that I cannot feel (i used to feel joyful positive feelings). and that I'm without a core real self so I have to fake all the time, while not wanting to but because II have to (i used to feel joyful positive feelings).
I feel so ashamed of it - my parents do a lot of things for me to try help (as I'm supposed to be schizophrenic though I hear no voices) but I can't feel good feelings towards them when the feelings should automatically be there.
I feel so abnormal and I'm starting a new job, after 10 years out of work on Tuesday, and I fear rejection if I can't be animated with good feelings of happiness, laughter and excitement and be real.
I get frustrated because no one can grasp what I say about my inner state and won't believe that I feel I have no self. They think I'm making it up or it is impossible.

I've took about 9 different antidepressants but none has helped, nor ECT and I am on antipsychotics

Toni L - no that is not true. If I were a student I would be straight up about it, why would I pretend something like that.
Sometimes I am silly with my questions because I feel like acting daft

I am not a doctor, however I really feel for you and have learned through my psych classes (2 years) that you need to find the right doctor and right med's to help you. It almost sounds as if you have disassociate identity disorder, you have described classic textbook symptoms and feelings of this disorder. However, i would like to say that a person who is diagnosed with schizophrenic does not necessarily have to hear voices either. I can only suggest you talk with your parents and possibly seek treatment elsewhere, you need to find a doctor that can help you through therapy (cognitive and behavioral) and find the right meds for you so you can have a happy productive life..do some research on internet about mood disorders and mental illness, it is possible to live with this disease and it is very treatable. I also strongly suggest that you seek advice outside of this forum, as we are all people with well meaning adivce but this is serious and you need a professional, also people like Agony Aunt (above) can only hurt you and she is really wasting your time as well as everyone elses that has to scroll over her ugly words. Good Luck, you will succeed and beat this disorder.

Stay away from inlight 7 below.........really.

Okay...something is fishy here billybones....i did some looking into your past questions...there are many questions asked about psychology and drugs....something tells me you are a student looking for answers from us....did i win the prize? Is this true???? I think you are a naughty english boy.

You sound severely depressed.
Do you have anything that you truly enjoy in your life? You need to look for that. Until you find your joy, you can't feel it.
What do you like doing?
You do have a self. You just lost how to tap into it. Did something traumatic happen to you?
The problem often is that doctors put you on drugs, and you never get the chance to really figure out what will make you happy.
Once you find something that truly brings you joy, your positive feeling for other things will come back. It is not natural to feel positive if you are neglecting who you really are.
Also, start an exercise program. Just walk in the morning. You will feel better. It will give you time to thing about what you really want to do.

Indeed, no one truly has a self. But the difference is "they" believe in the illusion, and you've recognized only 1/2 truth, and it has taken away your illusions, but not replaced them with the reality. So I will help.
If you were to focus on the truth, then you would be happy and joyful.... because these are inherent qualities of the truth of what you are.

What you've got to realise is that everyone at one time or another feels just like you do. They may seem to be very self confident and put on a brave face but a lot of the time they are every bit as insecure as you are. The main thing is not to be afraid or insecure about the way you feel . It is NORMAL to be nervous about starting a new job or meeting new people. Just keep telling yourself that you are just as good as anyone else. I wish youall the best and KNOW you are going to be O.K..

As I used to be as soon as an Atheist, I consider i will speak for some. What drives persons away from religion is in general the lack of competencies and follow the very so known as theist have. Their is nothing extra frustrating then to have anybody who's a christian preach what they themselves don't follow. Why must any one wish to claim to belong to the sort of group. Why must I comply with the foundations, when you don't follow them. Do you believe we'd had long past to battle if not for the Christians backing it. What does that say. I not companion myself with Christians, most effective with the Bible.

You say you have no feelings, but go on to describe a whole host of feelings. Feelings do not have to be all positive and you are really a bit more self-concerned than you like to let on. You do have an inner self. It is concentrated on the negative, but it is there.

My experience in the subject is neither here or there, but visiting the local shop picking up a bottle of Worcester sauce then believing in a name of Si Foyd, and watching telly, Richard&Judy, News, Breakfast, and a thousand more TV shows seem diferent.

you can become happy and peacefully and excited but it wont happen over night. that stuff takes time.

the single most important thing to do at this moment is to believe that you can truly reach that goal - you're not going to really set out on a journey if you don't believe you are going to finish it.

make a habit of focusing on the things that make you feel great.

Good luck

As i replaced into as quickly as an Atheist, i think of i will communicate for some. What drives people faraway from faith is frequently the shortcoming of information and practice the very so referred to as theist have. Their isn't something extra troublesome then to have somebody who's a christian pontificate what they themselves do no longer practice. Why ought to every physique decide to declare to belong to one in each of those team. Why ought to I stick to the regulations, once you do no longer stick to them. Do you think of we'd had long gone to conflict if no longer for the Christians backing it. What does that say. I no longer affiliate myself with Christians, basically with the Bible.
