I'm asking this question because i have met someone who is in desperate need of help. George is his name, and he is a homeless man who is in need of his brother and sisters and children of God. He told me a few weeks ok that he was thinking about ending his life. He also said he went to yahoo. answers to find out the answer to a question, he wanted to know if he took his own life will he make it to heaven.
This is a very special man, who has been through so much in the past year, he lost his mom to cancer, and i belive his younger brother was killed by a drunk driver. He also had a very terrible childhood. For the past few months i have watched this man walk miles every day in search of work, food and shelter. I'm a single mom of five, and have done all i can to help him, i dont have much but i try and feed him when i see him. I'm reaching out to all my brothers and sisters, to help save this man. This week instead of giving that $1 or $5 to your church, help save a life.

Have you ever considered that you may not be all that is needed to help this man even if money was given? Money is like giving this man a fish. It doesn't enable to fish and therefore take care of himself.
And being a single mom with 2 children, you need to turn this job over to those with boots on the ground in your community. If something happens to you, then there will be 3 who need help instead of one.
So why don't you give us the name of your church where we could send our money and know that the money will be handled properly as well as knowing the right care will be provided?
Edit: A truely compassionate person will have as much compassion for the needs of the giver not to be scammed as the person in need of help. Riding on the subway in NYC, you can see the same lady giving the same spill about being mugged everyday for 3 months in a row if you know the right train to ride. So the generous who want to have are in need of assurances of not being suckers.
If a person gives money to a church and designates the fund to George, the church HAS TO LEGALLY GIVE ALL the funds to George. If a person receives a check made out to them, there are no legal recourse the giver can take if the funds are used for something other than the homeless man you described.
So as brothers and sister in Christ should have no problem getting a check from a church and the giver should not have a problem writing a check to a church, the compassionate thing to do would be to allow the church to be the one collecting and dispersing funds for the needy as the Bible describes.

Where a person can not go. God is omnipresent. Have faith in God. Psalm 107. This man is looking for something and so are you. But the direction is the word of God. The Bible says many are the afflicitons of the righteous bu the Lord will deliver us out of them all. We sinn by not praying. We can get too busy for God. Stop looking at your circumstances and look at the word of the King he said and promised life to those who find him. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all the things you desire will be added unto you" Luke 18. Says we must pray regardless of what we see in the natural. Then if we remain in prayer it becomes manifested. Things change when we pray,if we do not then we limit God's power.

I would help save a stranger's life, of course. At my university there is always someone asking for change. Half the time I give a dollar or a quarter...I know its not much, and I don't really have much change on me, but I give what I can since if I have change, its for a reason. At one point I made sure to pack more change so that if someone asked for it, I'd give it, but all the askers suddenly disappeared at that time!
But I do find it odd that a person of circumstance would ask for money at a university, or college, since a lot of the students don't have much money to give away.
I felt bad when a homeless man asked me to buy him lunch once. I know its pathetic for ME to feel bad, since I'm not in his position, but ever since I've felt the need to help but I'm not really in a position to help someone like that. I don't have enough money to feed someone I don't know...if I had to choose between feeding my family or a stranger, I'd feed my family. I know it sounds sort of cold hearted. I've been saving half my lunch for an opportunity to give it away (eat the sandwich but leave the apple and chips) but like before, once I plan to do this, I don't see an unfortunate person asking...maybe I should make two sandwiches.
All that sounds pathetic on my side.
But you sound like a great person. I wonder if you could help him find a job?

I admire your concern, but I would use my energy helping this man in a more productive way. You need to possibly get him to a homeless shelter where there are tons of mental health resources (I know, I worked at one), there will be PLENTY of food, and they will help him get into a rehabilitation program. Have him (or you) call United Ways 2-1-1, or bring him to a police station so they will get him to a place. You are a generous person with a big heart, guide this man, but put your kids priority.

If you help the "least signifigant" (by society's standards) of God's children, you do the same to God. Bless you for helping this man.

Thats a very touching story. Thanks for sharing. Stories like this help me keep faith in humanity. Im doing my own bit to help refugees in southeast Asia. The worlds most under reported refugee crisis in the 21st century.
Cheers.
