Cozy............1 or 2 more bed pillows than you really need, small toss pillows on the bed, scatter small area rugs on the floor (or on top of your carpet), fold a throw along the bottom of your bed (or a regular blanket or spread folded down if you already have that on hand and don't want to get more), flowers or plants (real or silk), lamps instead of overhead lighting (unless you really need to turn on the overhead to see better), go with print fabrics instead of solid colors wherever you can, keep a loved book on your nightstand, pictures of loved ones on dresser, some potpourri that smells cozy to you (maybe something like a floral scent you love, or a spicy cinnamon scent, or a baby powder scent), candles in your favorite scent (if you're very careful not to fall asleep with them lit!), wall art that gives you that cozy feeling. This may not all happen overnight, but you can work towards it.
Good Luck!

You don't say how your bedroom looks now, but here are some ideas. Be sure it includes your favorite colors. If you can paint it, then just painting one wall a beautiful aqua or maybe a pale raspberry can add a lot. Pillows always make things cozy and you can again do colors and prints you love. Don't be afraid to mix and match. Buy posters and statuary that depict subjects that warm your heart: a large poster that looks like you're looking through a window out onto a flower covered balcony for example. Fur, if it's not against your beliefs, adds coziness. You can pick up used furs at goodwill for very little. Cover a pillow with the fur. Or add a stuffed animal in fake fur. Plants and real flowers add to the coziness. Framed photos on a dresser of family (including pets) and friends also helps personalize. The bottom line is to tune in to what speaks to you and makes you feel happy and try to include that. Enjoy!

A monochromatic color scheme is always elegant and cozy. You might try all neutrals which is probably the easiest of all. Try putting the bed on an angle from the corner of the room. Also try low wattage lighting around the room instead of a real bright light. Lots of layers on the windows and pillows on the bedding ........

Choose three colors and stick to them. Paint always makes a room more inviting. A nice warm cozy color would be kakki color. Also lamps make a room cozy. If you have a ceiling fan with lights on it now, that tends to make the room too bright.
Good Luck.

Visualise. Think of your favorite getaway and what that hotel room looks like. Then incorporate what you can afford..sometimes just thinking about your room empty and what you really want it to look like helps. Get a tape recorder and just talk about what you see. Use the tape later to hear your own ideas...could be as easy as changing the drapes...
