I don't know why you would need 20/20 uncorrected vision to be a cop. I would think you would need vision that IS correctable to 20/20 or better. Other wise they wouldn't have very many people on the force as they get older. I think a lot of officers prefer to wear contact lenses so they can wear sunglasses.

1. I'm not sure what the requirements are in Maryland, but when I went through the process to be a New York City Police officer, 20/20 was not required. I don't remember what the requirement was, but it was a certain level with corrective lenses, i.e. glasses or contacts. Trust me, I wear glasses, in fact I have an astigmitsym in my left eye.
2. There are actually exercises for your eyes that you can do which can help correct your vision a little bit.
3. You can get lasik surgery now with your parents permission. Otherwise, you can get it at 18.
4. It's great that you know you want to be a police officer now. My best advice is, don't worry about the eyes. Keep yourself fit and stay out of trouble. i.e. don't do drugs. and keep your license clean. I had a lot of trouble because of the speeding tickets and one revoked license on my record. The police force cares more about your character than your eyes. They are not hiring fighter pilots and they know the majority of the population does not have 20/20 vision.
Good luck.

Different police departments have different requirements. As far as vision requirements go, most departments require applicants to have 20/20 corrected vision. Some departments also have uncorrected standards. Many police officers wear contacts or glasses. Best of luck!

I don't think you need to have a 20/20 vision uncorrected when my bf joined the police he was wearing glasses and he had no problem doing so. I believe they only prevent you from flying police aircraft othen than that you should be okay. By the way my bf joined the police in California. I would imagine it is the same everywhere.
