I can't seem to find any irresistable deals. My husband and friends do, but I'm not so lucky. Do you have any tips? I USUALLY travel to see family, so I don't usually want a hotel and/nor car, but maybe packages are better? I don't know. I'm flexible though.

Book the flight a few months ahead of time and then plan accordingly with how much money you'll spend.
It works for a business person like myself.

Work in the airline industry. I get cheap flights (okay, granted, it's standby) working where I do.

No, but seriously, for cheap flights, pay attention to key periods where it may be busier than other days. Try early morning flights or mid-evening flights. Those often run much cheaper than a day flight. If you live in a town where the airport is busy on specific days, flight out a day or two before and return a day or two after. Less stress, less cost.

Above all else, fly coach. First class is nice but you're more hard-pressed to find good seats at any time than you are coach.

Stick with the sites others have recommended. I've found great prices with Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline, and others.

I have used this site to book trips and travel for friends and family and I usually get rates cheaper than the leading travel search engines. I am a certified travel agent and this is my site

Try Priceline or one of those other online sites. Also, call the airlines direct to see if there is an "off hour flight" that may be cheaper.

The best place I have found for finding great flights is http://www.bombasticlife.com - click on Travel Deals and then use Kayak - it will search over 200 travel sites and give you the best deal.
