Why bother to find him. He made his choice when he left when you were seven. This is just my view. But he didn't come looking for you did he?

I think it's always valuable to get family history from both sides. Just don't expect him to be a father now! If a man can walk away from children and the mother, he will certainly walk away again!! If you can find him, get the facts--positive and negative!! All too common for a young person to have an image of a parent and then try to "make" a spouse fulfill that image of a "good kind parent"!! If you can find HIS parents, that would probably be even better. Get the history from them, if you can't find him. Even a good medical history is VERY HELPFUL in raising your own children!

I would for my own interest. I'd need to know why he abandoned me. I'd want to meet him, get all the history info, and see if there is a good reason he left me at 5. Before I could go on, let go, I would indeed seek him out, however, having said that, you're the one who should question whether it would help you or hurt you. Then go for it! If you wish.

That's such a personal decision. It also depends on the urge you have. If you feel like you could live the rest of your life without regret of meeting him, then don't find him. Because any man who abandons their child is not worthy of having children who show him respect or acknowledgement.

Yes, just out of curiousity. But if you do, don't expect him to be everything you want him to be. He abandoned you, and you have no idea why, or what has happened to him in his life since then. He could be a major jerk, and you may be better off without him. But, of course, you won't know that until you meet him. It's completely up to you.

You sound pretty comfortable in your personality.
You might want to find him just for the sake of listening to his version. Not more !
Don't invest time and money though !
Make it a hobby.

If his name was Bill Gates, then yes, I would have to give it serious thought.

Honestly, that's for you to decide I'm afraid
