My sister and I donate platelets at the American Red Cross once a month. We get a very euphoric feeling, almost like being drunk or high. What causes this? It happens every time, and ends within about 15 minutes of being done.

P.S. - Your body can tolerate a platelet donation every two weeks.

It seems to me that you are donating too often. The feeling you get is due to the lack of your oxygen supply getting to the brain. If I were you I'd ask the Red Cross doctor next time you attend of the correct interval in between donations.

Sounds awesome, maybe they should use this in their advertising campaign for donating blood: "Kids, dont do drugs, donate blood! still the same great Hiiiiiggghhh!"
